HypeSouth Hardwood Invitational Notables Pt. 2
2024 5-6 G [player_tooltip player_id="296843" first="Kayla" last="Day"] – Marietta
A pitbull defender that can pick up 94-feet, Day makes opposing guards work for every inch. She’s a fearless player that swoops in for rebounds and gets up in people. She snagged 9 rebounds and had 3 steals to go with her 7 points. Day is getting better and better on offense each time I see her.
2022 5-8 SG [player_tooltip player_id="210303" first="Tamia" last="Smith"] – Baldwin
A double-digit scorer her entire career, Smith is a well-rounded offensive player. She’s got a pretty three-point shot that spaces out the defense, opening lanes for her to get to the basket where she’s extremely nimble and can break off eurosteps to finish with either hand. Tamia may be flying under the radar a bit. She could be a really nice pick up at the next level.
2022 5-8 W Trazur Cooper – Central-Macon
Trazur’s sweet spot was in the mid-range. She hit three jumpers as she worked the high post. At 5-foot-8, Cooper has some strength and is a reliable rebounder when going up against bigger opponents.
2025 5-9 F Frances Anyakudo – Central-Macon
Frances Anyakudo had 8 points and 14 rebounds in Central-Macon’s 46-43 win. Anyakudo has a great nose for the ball. She gets her work done early as she battles for position and cleans the glass. She plays bigger than her size.
2023 5-10 C Jacquelyn Buchanan – Dougherty
The size and strength of Buchanan stands out. Aside from her banging in the low post, Jacquelyn also has some quality post moves. She had a pretty face-up spin move that drew a foul. Buchanan could be on some college radars.
