2022
Megan Woods-5’10 F (Cedar Park)
Woods is one of 5 legitimate double-digit scoring threats in her teams starting 5 so when you factor in her size, a couple of inches shy of “The Magic Number” and her range, mid to long, that opens up so many options for her squad that it’s hard to concentrate on the double-team when you have players that understand how to move the ball and can shoot, she does this as well
Cortni Harris-5’6 G (Crosby)
Harris does a good job of shooting the ball with a hand in her face, that’s one of the first things that stood out when I caught her entering high school and although I still can’t tell her and her twin apart as their games mirror each other, that’s why I have a pen and they have numbers yet you can’t pin her in as she finds ways to put numbers, hopefully, you caught that
Caitlin Harris-5’6 G (Crosby)
Harris creates her shot well under pressure and sets the defender up to score off the dribble and finish after contact yet like her sister, she can drop it from outside, mid to long-range and let me also add coming off a screen as well, as showing the “catch and shoot” she understands how to put the ball in the basket
Mia Thomas-5’4 G (Summer Creek)
Thomas falls into my “silent assassin” group because she doesn’t crack a smile while playing and her outside shot is deadly. She was one of the top SHOOTERS in the club season but alas, she has numerous scorers on her high school squad so she understands how to mix it up, this will help her at the next level at Hill College and beyond
2023
Ariana Rodriguez-5’3 G (Converse Judson)
Rodriguez smoothly drops jumpers in a variety of ways and it ain’t no joke because in transition, that “stop and pop” for 3 excited me during the club season as well as at the event, no I don’t jump up and down in front of people but trust me, inside I do but she also is creative as she sets the defender up for the midrange as well as off the dribble
2024
Jayda Mitchell-5’6 G (San Antonio Johnson)
Mitchell did a very good job of scoring around the rim using her athleticism but she also showed she could set the defender up for the jumper and both the pull-up in the half-court set as well as in transition was effective yet her doing things instinctively and factoring in she’s only a sophomore speaks volumes about her upside
Nicolette Polocheck Nicolette Polocheck 6'0" | PF Memorial | 2024 State TX -6’0 F (Spring Branch Memorial)
Polocheck sends me subliminal messages as soon as she steps on the court, well maybe telepathic, I know it isn’t over Wi-Fi or Western Union but her overpowering of opponents was the first thing I noticed about her years ago, well that and her desire and ability to BATTLE for everything off the rim, scoring after putbacks with players literally hanging on her and this was before she was in high school. Now she’s showing the mid to long-range is consistent and she’s consistently handling the ball against some heavy pressure both in the open court as well as attacking the rim to finish
