We covered the last game of the day with 7A Thompson Lady Warriors playing 6A Minor Lady Tigers. This game is full of players you need to get to know.
The host team Thompson was led by 2024 Dasia Huynh | 5-8 PG | She was very active on the court, using her long lean body to make things happen whether it was on offense or defense. Dasia could also shoot the three and attack the basketball when necessary, She will be a big asset to Thompson’s journey this year and a couple more to come. Minor’s 2022 Brianna Howell Brianna Howell 5'11" | C Minor | 2022 State AL | 6-1 P | was a force to be reckoned with in the paint; a college-ready body that loves to battle for those rebounds and will make baskets even with contact. This game went back and forth until halftime, with Minor having a 29-24 led.
Thompson had a couple of players that stepped it up in the second half; Senior Alecia Reasor | PG 5-5 | came out with a lot of energy and a will to score for her team; driving to the basket with success. On defense, Alecia would attack the basket and with her speed, she had a step or two in front of her defender. Then there was ’23 Zyon Gaiters | 5-6 SG | that made three 3’s in this half and was a great defender. Minor started to pull away in last in the 3rd quarter on the play of ’23 Nailah Mayes Nailah Mayes 5'9" | C Minor | 2023 State AL | 5-9 PF | a Top 250 attendee and ’23 All-Defensive team, was in foul trouble in the first half. Nailah had a couple of and-ones, steals, then seeing the floor to get the ball to her open teammate. She is another player we talk about that DNA; mother was a former WNBA player and dad played Arena football.
The future of both teams was seen in ’25 Locke Little | 5-7 F | Thompson and ’24 Brianna Adams Brianna Adams 5'10" | PG Minor | 2024 State AL | 5-9 SF | Minor and her younger sister, ’25 Brooke Adams | 5-7 G | Minor.
The final score was: Minor 64. Thompson 51.
