Arizona 4A Standouts in Late November

As 2021-2022, high school basketball season gets underway, Prep Girls Hoops will follow along documenting each of the top performers throughout the entirety of the year. We will first focus on the players in the Class AAAA in Arizona and see who stood out above the rest over the holiday week. <strong>Christina Sausedo - Senior - 5’4" - Desert Edge High School </strong> Christina Sausedo, the five-foot-four guard that has played all of her previous years on Varsity for the Desert Edge Lady Scorpions is be returning to the court for one last go-around for her senior year. She has already piqued the interest of scouts and writers by starting off the season with an impressive average of 18.5 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game, followed by 4.5 steals per game and 2.2 assists per game. Sausedo is a natural-born scorer and will get the ball into the hole by any means necessary. In a 29 point win over Agua Fria late in November, Christina finished the game with 32 points and shot 57% from behind the arc. Don't sleep on this big-time senior!! <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="208244" first="Mya" last="Way"] - Junior - 5’4" - Mesquite High School </strong> Way is a five-foot-four junior point guard for the Mesquite Lady Wildcats that has started off the 2021-2022 high school basketball season off strong by averaging 11.2 points per game and 3.3 assists per game. She helped lead her team to a 2-1 start to the season and shot 63% from the field/50% from the three-point line in the Thanksgiving holiday tournament. Mya was also chosen to be a part of the Lady Black Hawks All-Tournament team, as well. Smart basketball player that knows the ends and outs of the game. #1 is going to be a fun player to watch this season. <strong>Geneva Holman - Junior - 5’6" - Dysart High School </strong> Holman is a five-foot-six junior that plays guard for the Dysart Lady Demons and has played up at the Varsity level since her freshman year. To start off the 2021-2022 basketball season, Geneva has averaged 11.2 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game to help the Lady Demons to a 5-4 start. She has already scored 100 points so far and has hit at least one three-pointer in each of the nine games that have been played so far. In a loss to a tough Mountain Ridge team, the junior hit five big three's but they still were not able to pull out the win. Holman is not afraid to be the aggressor and will do what it takes to help her team. <strong>Vanessa Sepulveda - Sophomore - 5’8" - Mesquite High School </strong> The lengthy five-foot-eight sophomore guard for the Mesquite Lady Wildcats has proven her spot on the varsity squad in just the first few games of the season. Sepulveda is averaging 12.2 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game so far. She is also averaging 2.0 assists, 1.8 steals and, 1.2 blocks per game as well. In a two-point loss to a very talented Hamilton High School team, Vanessa finished the game with 24 points, 5 three-pointers (71%), 4 defensive rebounds, 2 assists, and a block. There is a lot more to see from this young gun over the course of this season and the next two... <strong>Sara Enriquez - Freshman - 5’3" - Pueblo High School </strong> The first-year freshman point guard for the Pueblo Lady Warriors, Sara Enriquez has already started making a name for herself in the first few games of the 2021-2022 basketball season. In just seven games so far, she is averaging 11.3 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. Sara is also averaging 2.9 assists per game and 2.7 steals per game to help lead her team to a 5-2 start to the season. The freshman can score at all three levels and already has an IQ of a veteran. Enriquez is getting a lot of valuable playing time that will really benefit her as she continues to get older and wiser.
