Chicagoland Invitational Showcase: Super Seniors

This past Saturday I made my way out to Fremd High School for the 7th annual Chicagoland Invitational Girl’s Basketball Showcase. I was only able to watch the morning and early afternoon games, but here are a group of Seniors who stood out from those contests: <strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="124894" first="Morgan" last="Demos"], 6’2” Forward, Benet Academy</strong> A skilled interior Post player who impacts the game every time she steps on the floor, Demos continues to display an impressive back-to-the-basket game on the low block. Morgan, a Navy commit, is a dominant rebounder at both ends of the court and plays solid defense on opposing Post players with her physicality and good footwork. <strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="203015" first="Kate" last="Gross"], 5’10” Guard, Downers Grove North</strong> Gross is a well-rounded Shooting Guard who provides great versatility at both ends of the court with her ability to play and defend multiple positions. Kate is a reliable ball-handler who knocks down shots from deep on a consistent basis and plays sound defense with her athleticism and high basketball IQ. <strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="203016" first="Ryann" last="Wendt"], 6’0” Guard, Downers Grove North</strong> Another lengthy Shooting Guard with good strength at Downers Grove North, Wendt is a tremendous asset to any team she plays on with her ability to succeed in multiple spots. She is a lights-out shooter from beyond the three-point line, and constantly creates matchup problems on the perimeter against smaller guards. <strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="158267" first="Hailey" last="Markworth"], 5’10” Guard, Lyons Township</strong> Markworth has developed into a very polished and exciting player to watch in the area with her consistent success in a Combo Guard role. Hailey, a Winona State commit, can play on or off-ball with her ability to create for herself and her teammates while turning into a knock down shooter from deep and in the mid-range. <strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="343740" first="Olivia" last="Mezan"], 5’7” Guard, Lyons Township</strong> Markworths’ backcourt teammate at LT, Mezan is a phenomenal compliment with her scoring ability from the outside. Olivia, a University of Missouri-Saint Louis commit, shoots the ball at a high rate from beyond the three-point line and is a reliable ball-handler who can get to the rim and finish among taller defenders. <strong>2022 Caroline Barker, 5’7” Guard, Maine South</strong> Barker is a talented Point Guard who is comfortable leading the offense and pushing the ball up the floor in transition. Caroline is a constant threat to knock down shots from deep off-the-bounce and uses her strength to attack the lane and absorb contact at the basket. <strong>2022 Anna Kleszynski, 5’10” Forward, Marian Catholic</strong> A skilled Small Forward who can handle the ball when called upon, Kleszynski shows great confidence and no fear out on the court. Anna plays tough on defense against a variety of players, and runs the floor hard in transition before using her strength to finish at the basket. <strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="124855" first="Faith" last="Feuerbach"], 6’1” Guard, Sycamore</strong> Feuerbach is an athletic Shooting Guard who can put up monster numbers with her ability to score at all levels. The St. Thomas commit is a high level shooter from beyond the three-point line and uses her elusiveness and length in the lane to score over defenders. <strong>2022 Ella Shipley, 5’11” Guard, Sycamore</strong> Exploding for 15 first half points in a solid win over Rolling Meadows, Shipley was scoring the ball from everywhere with her strong takes to the basket and smooth jump shot. Ella gives constant effort at both ends of the court, especially when playing tough on-ball and help-side defense.
