However, the Ropers faced injury and foul trouble in the fourth and were unable to make sufficient progress, eventually falling by a final score of 49-42.

Play of the Game
Rogers came into their third game of the season averaging 79 points and it was going to take a tremendous defensive effort by the Comets to contain the outstanding scoring squad from up the road in Tulsa. That is exactly what they did and they were led in that respect by junior Megan Roy Megan Roy 6'0" | C Bishop Kelley | 2023 OK who not only racked up a ton of blocks, several steals, and did a great job securing the lane – but she also came up with perhaps the biggest charge of the night (her second of the game). As Rogers star Raegan McQuarters Raegan McQuarters 5'4" | PG Sapulpa | 2023 State OK drove the lane late in the game for a bucket that would have put her team back within a shot of tying it, Roy planted her feet and took a charge that gave McQuarters her fifth foul and all but secured the win for her squad. Roy isn’t limited to defense, however. She added five points and showed great hands to receive the ball inside and finish strong. She is a very good post player and could develop into a great prospect in the very near future.
Quote of the Game
“We talked about it over there during the timeout, we said ladies you’ve got to stand in there and take a charge. When she did it for the second time it was just like, ’YEAAAAAA!” – Bishop Kelley Head Coach Joe Daniels on Megan Roy Megan Roy 6'0" | C Bishop Kelley | 2023 OK ’s game-changing charge
Player of the Game
Madeline Barton | 5-9 G/F | Bishop Kelley | 2022 | Hudl
Barton was the clear-cut player of the game from the outset as she set the tone for her squad on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. She communicates well on defense and as a senior, she does a great job of helping her teammates get into position. Madeline does a good job of coaching on the floor. She is very vocal out there, in a good way. She is tall and long and has good handles. She uses those handles and her strength and ability to protect the ball and to get to the rim repeatedly where she finished well and was definitely not afraid of the contact. She had probably the prettiest stroke from long range in the whole gym. It is fluid and natural and she makes it look easy. On the night Barton had 15 points. I’m not sure where she stands as far as offers go or if she is planning on playing college basketball, but coaches, you should definitely take a look at Bishop Kelley if you get a chance. Her plethora of abilities would make any coach very happy to have her.
Other Standouts
Raegan McQuarters Raegan McQuarters 5'4" | PG Sapulpa | 2023 State OK | 5-5 G | 2023 | Will Rogers | @raeganMcq4
You just know heading into a Ropers game that you are going to get an absolute show from Raegan and it was clear from what BK did defensively that they knew the same thing. Even though the Comets keyed in on the Will Rogers star, McQuarters still came away with 16 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter with about four minutes left to play. Raegan had the best handles on the court, hands down. She was unmatched with the ball in her hands. Her quickness was unmatched, too. When BK tried to press, there was almost no need for Rogers to bring another player back to her as an outlet to pass to. McQuarters was able to simply break the press with her speed and handles, even when double-teamed. She can hit the three and definitely score inside after driving hard to the rim with her speed and intensity. She has that “wants it” gene that not every player truly possesses. I have no doubt in my mind that Raegan is a college player and if you want a definite winner on your team, you need to be taking a look at Raegan McQuarters Raegan McQuarters 5'4" | PG Sapulpa | 2023 State OK .
Allie Strandmark | 5-7 G | Bishop Kelley | 2024 | @AllieStrandmark
Allie is a newcomer from Kansas and it looks like she may fit in very well with Bishop Kelley’s style of play. She works hard on the defensive end and without the ball on the offensive end. She found open space to score and when the time came, she didn’t miss. She has good size for a guard and from the looks of it is very fast, too. She has good handles and makes the high IQ play when the ball is in her hands. She finished her first game for BK coming off the bench with eight points. Strandmark is young and it looks like when some of the senior stars for BK have moved along, the program will be in very good hands. She is definitely one to keep an eye on!
Brianna Gist Brianna Gist 6'0" | PF Kipp Tulsa | 2024 State OK | 5-11 F/C | Will Rogers | 2024 | Hudl
Speaking of youngsters who are going to be big-time when their time comes, Gist is going to be a star if things go right. She is tall and very long and you can see she has the skills and the IQ and if everything comes together for her, she could be an absolute beast. She did some very good things rebounding and had some strong putbacks. She is still young and clearly learning, but the future is incredibly bright. She has good footwork and is strong with the ball in the post. She is unafraid of anyone and the contact of playing in the paint. With maturity and practice, I fully expect Gist to be one of the best bigs in Tulsa – if not Oklahoma – by the time 2024 comes along.
