After watching every single one of the games, Kettle Moraine put on a great event with great games, from start to finish. From the east gym, some solid teams deserve to get some shine. These are the five best-uncommitted performers, in my opinion.
Eve Gricius-5’5 G-’24-Oconomowoc: Sophomore guard Eve Gricius scored a game-high 20 points in the Raccoons loss to Madison Edgewood. Eve was a bit quiet the previous day when Natalie Gricius Natalie Gricius 5'10" | PF Oconomowoc | 2022 State WI was scoring relentlessly against Oregon. Against Edgewood, Eve was solid with the ball and played with a ton of confidence. Her overall game will need to get refined a little bit going into the season, but I have high hopes for her after seeing her feel of the game.
Kyla Saleh-5’10 F-’23-Waunakee: Saleh, in their loss against Pius XI, impressed me with her athleticism. After watching the W7 stream from Saturday, I learned that she is the reigning state champion in the High Jump, and that makes all the sense in the world. On Saturday, Saleh was part of the all-out bully ball win that the Warriors had over Homestead. Saleh ended the game with 20 points and an unknown amount of rebounds. Saleh is fun to watch when the Warriors press because she is faster and can jump higher than anyone in the opposing backcourt. Her athleticism is almost painfully obvious when watching her play.
Madisonn Fitzgibbonn Madisonn Fitzgibbonn 5'6" | SG Homestead | 2025 WI -5’6 G-’25-Homestead: This freshman stood out even in the loss to the Warriors because of her scoring instincts. It was impressive that she found ways to score against a very athletic and tall Warriors team. Fitzgibbon made four 3-pointers and finished the game with 19 points for the Homesteaders. Even in the loss, Fitzgibbon was constantly putting pressure on the Warrior defense. I will be keeping my eye on her and the next player on this list.
Katelyn Odem Katelyn Odem 5'8" | SG Homestead | 2024 State WI -5’8 G-’24-Homestead: I became aware of Odem’s ability when she attended the PGH Top 250 event in Appleton in September. I was impressed by the aggression she played with offensively. And in the game Saturday, she played with that same aggression, getting to the free-throw line seven times. I’m always impressed by players with a mindset like Odem has. The sophomore will continue to improve because of her high level of determination.
Marie Outlay Marie Outlay 5'9" | CG Sun Prairie | 2023 State WI -5’10 F-’23-Sun Prairie: Outlay had as good of a game as anyone in either gym Saturday. Outlay made eight 3-pointers and finished the game with 26 points. Outlay even flipped up a half-court shot to tie the game at the buzzer, which ESPNW posted on Twitter. The Cardinal junior had an excellent day shooting at Kettle Moraine, and the Cardinals went on to dominate the overtime period and get the win.
