I’m going to call it now- not only is she going to have an outstanding high school career, but she will be setting records in college, and later be wearing a WNBA jersey. Her basketball IQ, how she can read defenses, and her ability to dominate both ends of the court causes serious nightmares for opposing teams. And the alley- oops that her teammates are confident in throwing to her, are spectacular! (Featured Photo)
Cy’Aira Miller- 5’7, 2025, Purcell Marian H.S.: (Below, #1) Cy’Aira plays with great intensity! Opponents cannot give her even .5 seconds to look at the basket, otherwise, the damage is done! She is a shooter, from any spot on the court, particularly from 3 point land! Fantastic speed, great handles, and her battery never shuts off- she’s full go, all game.
Ky’Aira Miller- 5’8, 2025, Purcell Marian H.S.: Ky’Aira was one of the top defenders I saw throughout the tournament. Lightening speed, and she can read a pass before the pass is made! Her picks ignite their offense and transition, leading to easy buckets. She nails her free-throws, and can hit the outside shots. Great court vision, finds her teammates for great looks at the basket.
Gwen Stare Gwen Stare 5'9" | SG Newark | 2022 State OH – 5’9, 2022, Newark H.S.: (Below with ball) Gwen is a natural born leader- she plays with such poise, and is a true competitor. This multi- sport athlete who is just as fascinating to watch in cross country as she is on the court, has a high motor, and handles the ball like it is a piece of gold. Love her defensive pressure, and she’s a shooter, who thrives on taking it to the basket.
Jenna Shackleford: 6’0, 2023, Newark H.S.: (Below, shooting) Shackleford is making a big impact for Newark, both offensively and defensively for the Wildcats. She has a strong outside shot from 3 point land, and can post up inside. Jenna plays with composure, and doesn’t get rattled. And she’s not afraid to play defense against top scorers from opposing teams.
