Matayea Mathern – Edegley/Kulm/Montpelier – (5’9/SF/2024) – Mathern had a field day with the final game of the day between the EKM Rebels and the Carrington Cardinals. Mathern played like a true champion all game long and finished with a game high 18 points and 10 rebounds. To go along with her double-double she added 5 steals. EKM went on to beat the Cardinals 56-26 and claimed the Stutsman County Tournament trophy.
Allison Thomas Allison Thomas 5'7" | CG Medina-Pingree/Buchanan | 2024 State ND – Medina/Pingree/Buchanan – (5’6/SG/2024) – Another sophomore on our list Allison Thomas Allison Thomas 5'7" | CG Medina-Pingree/Buchanan | 2024 State ND had been quiet for most of the tournament until she broke free from her chains and finished the 3rd place game against Napoleon G-S having a solid 15 points with 3, 3 pointers made for the game. Allison can really score in a hurry so it’s surprising not to mention her earlier on this list. None the less she’s a player that can be a dark horse for this Thunder team come district time.
Ryleigh Martin – Medina/Pingree/Buchanan – (5’9/PF/2022) – Martin was the talk for most of the tournament. She didn’t slow down any when it came down to the 3rd place game against Napoloeon G-S. Martin did what she always does and that’s play scrappy, physical basketball and hustle everywhere in search for the ball. She finished the game with a team high 20 points and 12 rebounds thus being good for her 2nd double-double of the tournament.
Teagan Erbele Teagan Erbele 5'9" | PF Napoleon | 2024 State ND – Napoleon G-S – (5’9/PF/2024) – Teagan had a fantastic finish to the tournament. Even though it didn’t go exactly how she planned she finished the 3rd place game agasint Medina/Pingree/Buchanan with game high 21 points and 9 rebounds. Erbele is something special. She’s a physical beast in the paint and uses her strength and IQ to out maneuver even the biggest of post players.
Asia Becherel – Griggs/Midkota – (6’1/C/2023) – Asia continued where she left off against Warwick which is by being an absolute paint beast. Even the Cardinals length and size had complications stopping her and other post Jenna Larson within the post. There were times when Becherel would just shoot over the Cardinals with a slight right handed dribble and set shot. Asia didn’t need to get fancy with much footwork when all she needed was muscle and will to put shots up. Becherel finished with a game high 27 points and 13 rebounds.
Jenna Larson – Griggs/Midkota – (6’2/C/2022) – Larson the other twin tower to Asia Becherel had a phenomenal game against the Cardinals. Larson showed a display of being able to shoot outside and inside. She became a real threat on the offensive glass cleaning up missed shots for the Titans and putting them back. Larson finished the game with a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds 6 of which came from the offensive glass.
Emily Jochim – South Border – (5’6/SG/2023) – Jochim was quiet for most of the tournament. She woke up during the first game of the last day against the Lady Warriors dropping 18 points and 7 rebounds. Jochim is a player that you can’t leave open or she’ll make you pay. Throughout the tournament she was the leading scorer for the Mustangs getting into double figures in all 3 games. With a young Mustangs team it’ll be interesting to watch how they shift through a physical District 6 bracket.
