HONORABLE MENTIONS
Bishop Foley Big 3: Melanie Moore Melanie Moore C Madison Heights Bishop Foley | 2022 State MI (2022, C, Bishop Foley), Ryan Moorer Ryan Moorer 5'9" | SG Madison Heights Bishop Foley | 2024 State MI (2024, SG, Bishop Foley), Abby Pasinos Abby Pasinos SG Madison Heights Bishop Foley | 2023 State MI (2023, SG, Bishop Foley)
These 3 played terrific team basketball last night and deserved to be included as a trio with the Honorable Mentions. They led Bishop Foley to a 72-18 win over Ferndale. They were the definition of unselfish players looking for the best shot on each possession. Moore 13 points, Moorer finished with 14 points, and Pasinos chipped in with 14 as well.
Taylor Hopkins (2022, PG, Sanford Meridian)
Hopkins had herself a night in a dominating 59-6 win over Breckenridge. She lit up the scoreboard with a 24 point night. Hopkins has started the season shooting the lights out. That was very evident last night as she set a school record with 6 made 3 pointers in the game.
Lydia Meredith Lydia Meredith 5'7" | PG St. Patrick's | 2022 State MI (2022, PG, St. Patricks)
If there was a second place, it might have to go to Meredith. She was dominant on both ends of the floor in a 64-35 win over Laingsburg. Offensively, she went off for 25 points. However she was probably most impressive on the defensive end of the floor. Meredith pressured the ball, created chaos, and finished with 10 steals.
Anna Richards Anna Richards 5'9" | PG Lansing Catholic | 2024 State MI (2024, PG, Lansing Catholic)
Richards spearheaded an impressive 68-27 win over Cass Tech last night. She was magnificent and efficient with the ball throughout the game. Richards finished with a team high 17 points.
Peyton Spicer Peyton Spicer 5'10" | PF Owosso | 2024 State MI (2024, PF, Owosso)
Spicer’s Owosso squad suffered a tough 38-37 loss to Durand. Despite the defeat, her performance stood out last night. She was dominant in the paint on both ends. Spicer finished with a 15 point and 12 rebound double-double.
MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER
Brooke Daniels Brooke Daniels PG Macomb L'Anse Creuse | 2022 State MI (2022, PG, L’Anse Creuse North)
Daniels is one of the top perimeter players and lead guards in the state, and that was more than evident last night. She led her team to a 62-47 win over a tough Imlay City squad. Daniels was almost unstoppable on the offensive end, tallying 27 points in the contest. Daniels attacked the ball off the rim and finished out the double-double by snagging 11 rebounds. She managed to control the game on the defensive end as well. Daniels pressured the ball, forced turnovers, and snagged 5 steals. She is obviously ready to have a big time senior season.
