It was a great first week of basketball and some players had huge games. Here is a list of some of the best performances of the week. [player_tooltip player_id="216703" first="Peyton" last="Marvel"] 2024 - D’Evelyn - 25 points, 15 rebounds, 10 steals vs. Pomona Peyton put up only the second triple-double in the Jaguar’s history. The talented Sophomore was all over the court and helped her team in every way. She dominated the offensive glass, pulling in 10 offensive rebounds. She had a couple of "one-man press plays" where she was able to apply pressure, get a steal, and convert a quick bucket. Peyton shot an efficient 53% from the field. She will have more triple-doubles throughout her career! [player_tooltip player_id="117682" first="Saya" last="Sabus"] 2022 - Ralston Valley - 31 points, 5 steals, 3 assists vs. Air Academy Saya came out blazing in her first game of her Senior year. She hit 5 big threes and shot an impressive 8/8 from the free throw line. She will lead the Mustangs this season and be the focal point of many scouting reports. She followed up this game with several other strong performances and earned herself an All Tournament Team spot in the Best of the Nest Tournament hosted by Horizon. [player_tooltip player_id="261800" first="Anila" last="Owens"] 2023 - Cheyenne Mountain - 30 points, 23 rebounds vs. Sand Creek Anila posted a monster stat-line. The 5'-10" Junior was all over the court grabbing every rebound she could. She had an impressive 14 offensive rebounds that led to easy put-backs. This talented player is going to have huge performances like this all season and will be firmly in the mix for the 5A/4A Pikes Peak Player of the Year. Dayshanay Bruner 2024 - Coronado - 12 points, 22 rebounds vs. Greeley West Dayshanay helped her team secure a victory over Greeley West with a great performance on the glass. She shot an efficient 67% from the field and knocked down a 3-pointer. She dominated the glass pulling down 12 offensive rebounds and 10 defensive rebounds. This 6'-0" Sophomore will be a breakout player this year and will continue having impressive performances like this. [player_tooltip player_id="331323" first="Morgan" last="Ives"] 2024 - Horizon - 27 points, 4 steals, 4 rebounds vs. Vista Peak Morgan knocked down three 3s and shot an efficient 58% from the field in Horizon's win over Vista Peak. She got the rim easily and finished well. She was also a pest defensively forcing turnovers and making it difficult for Vista Peak to score. Morgan earned a spot on the Best of the Nest All Tournament Team after averaging 18.3 ppg for the tournament.
