I was able to see two Week 4 matchups. The Plano East Panthers hosted and defeated the South Grand Prairie Warriors 52-44 on Tuesday, and the Frisco Raccoons earned a 62-48 home victory over the Frisco Independence Knights on Friday. Let’s take a look at some of the best forward prospects from this past week’s action. Donavia Hall | 2022 | 5’11’’ Small Forward | Plano East HS - Hall had a tremendous all-around game on Tuesday, ending the night with an impressive stat line of 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and six steals. She didn’t get off to a hot start as a scorer, but she continued to play hard and contribute with her rebounding and defense, continuously making team-first plays. However, The SMU commit got it going in the second half, scoring 15 of her 20 points via some aggressive takes to the basket and strong finishes through contact, including some coast-to-coast scores where she simply would not be denied. Hall also displayed a quick release on her jumper from deep, drilling a pair of threes. Moreover, she stepped up for Plano East on the perimeter in the absence of star guard [player_tooltip player_id="65919" first="Kayla" last="Cooper"], proving that she is capable of carrying the load herself. Ada Anamekwe | 2022 | 5’11’’ Small Forward/Power Forward | Plano East HS - Anamekwe also accounted for 20 points in Plano East’s win over South Grand Prairie, as well as seven rebounds and five steals. Her paint scoring was terrific in this matchup, getting it done in the post and when slashing to the basket off the dribble. She made timely cuts to the basket for easy baskets too, showing great instincts when playing away from the ball on offense. At the other end, the senior forward defended numerous positions and was particularly effective on the perimeter where she could bother opponents with her size advantage. Beyond that, Anamekwe exhibited an explosive burst and a high motor, two things that should translate at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="331913" first="Nylah" last="Mundy"] | 2022 | 6’1’’ Small Forward/Power Forward | Frisco Independence HS - Mundy’s overall effort and will to work really impressed me Friday night. The Independence senior frequented the foul line as a result of her relentlessness underneath the basket. Her rebounding was excellent as well, attacking the ball at its highest point as she repeatedly out-rebounded multiple opponents. She showed that she can stretch out to the mid-range and knock down spot-up jumpers too. Mundy finished the game with 16 points and seven rebounds. That said, it was her defense that stood out the most. She defended a variety of players, even switching on to Frisco’s most productive guard in the second half and limiting her. Idara Udo | 2023 | 6’0’’ Power Forward | Plano East HS - Udo doesn’t need to fill up the stat sheet to contribute to a winning performance. She is a presence to deal with in the paint at both ends of the floor, impacting shots on defense and drawing multiple defenders down low on offense. The Plano East junior did a nice job of anchoring the defense, communicating well with her teammates. When I saw her during the summer, her touch near the basket was outstanding, and she showed that it still is on Tuesday with a good-looking runner. Additionally, she possesses solid foot speed. Adhel Tac | 2024 | 6’4’’ Power Forward/Center | South Grand Prairie HS - What’s not to like about Tac and her style of play? The sophomore big possesses a long and wiry frame, plays hard, isn’t bothered when surrounded by defenders in the paint, and is a monster on the glass. Her poise in traffic was outstanding on Tuesday, displaying strong hands at the catch and comfort when finishing over the top of multiple defenders in the post. She was playing one vs. four on many occasions when receiving a touch down low, and she still found ways to put the ball in the basket. Tac ultimately finished the contest with eight points and 12 rebounds. This is an underclassman who is already talented yet still has a ton of upside. Teagan Billiot | 2023 | 5’10’’ Small Forward/Power Forward | Frisco Independence HS - Billiot put together a solid outing in Independence’s loss to Frisco on Friday, accounting for five points, eight rebounds, and a pair of steals. She had one of the best buckets of the night, beautifully utilizing an up-and-under move in the paint to get an open layup. The junior combo forward was responsible for a nice finish over the top of numerous defenders too. On defense, Billiot did a good job of staying vertical when challenging shots and was solid on the glass as a rebounder.
