The Frisco Reedy Lions hosted and defeated the Frisco Heritage Coyotes 50-25 on Tuesday, and the Wylie East Raiders went on the road and earned a 67-42 victory over the Lovejoy Leopards on Friday. Here are some of the best guard prospects from this past week’s action.
Malayla Harold | 2022 | 5’7’’ Shooting Guard | Wylie East HS – Harold had an excellent night shooting from the outside. She was great at getting herself squared up and not rushing her shots. The Wylie East senior is a marksman from the catch. She buried three triples on Friday night, ultimately ending the contest with 11 points and three assists. It is also worth pointing out that Harold made four threes and scored 18 points in the Raiders’ win over Denison earlier in the week.
Jaydein Billingslea | 2023 | Shooting Guard | Frisco Reedy HS – Billingslea came off the bench for Frisco Reedy on Tuesday and gave her team a boost after being inserted into the game. She provided them with some extra possessions thanks to some hustle plays and offensive rebounds. The junior two-guard also gave her squad some scoring production via a catch-and-shoot three, a timely cut to the basket for a gimme layup, as well as getting to and converting from the foul line. Having a player who can do all that in a reserve role is incredibly valuable. Reedy’s 25-point win is further evidence of that.
Sydney Young | 2023 | 5’5’’ Shooting Guard | Frisco Heritage HS – Young displayed good ball handling and passing ability on Tuesday night. She made some really smart passes when faced with on-ball pressure, opportunistically finding cutting teammates on a few occasions. She is also an athletic guard who chips in on the defensive glass and is capable of going coast-to-coast following a rebound. Beyond that, Young showcased a nice floater that she can deploy when driving from the baseline.
Taliah Odneal | 2024 | 5’6’’ Combo Guard | Frisco Heritage HS – Odneal plays a physical brand of basketball. She is not shy about initiating contact and going straight at defenders. The sophomore guard did exactly that vs. Frisco Reedy and was rewarded with numerous trips to the free throw line. I really liked how she recognized that calls were going her way and continued to attack the basket off the dribble, and subsequently bulldozed anyone in her way.
Sidney Carr | 2025 | 5’5’’ Point Guard | Lovejoy HS – Carr has such a mature game in just her first year of varsity ball. The freshman floor general finished the night as Lovejoy’s leading scorer, accounting for 14 points. She started the game and played with outstanding pace and looked great handling the ball in the open court. As a scorer, Carr showed that she can get you a bucket from all three levels. She knocked down a pair of threes vs. Wylie East and was also responsible for a beautiful runner in transition. This is a young player in a perfect situation, getting to learn behind a dynamic junior point guard in Samantha Basson Samantha Basson 5'8" | PG Lovejoy | 2023 TX for two whole seasons. She has the chance to develop into a really good all-around player.
Karrington Jackson | 2025 | 5’4’’ Combo Guard | Frisco Reedy HS – Jackson is another first-year prospect who already possesses a good feel for the game. She displayed great speed as a ball handler in the open court, as well as the ability to get into and out of tight spaces with her dribble. Her vision and decision making were solid too. That said, the Reedy freshman really stood out on the defensive end. She exhibited fantastic lateral quickness to stay in front of opponents and was able to put significant pressure on ball handlers throughout the contest. It was great to see an underclassman with a desire to play tough defense.
