Here is a quick glance at the top-5 players in the 2022 class and where they are heading if they have committed already.
No. 1 – Darianna Littlepage-Buggs Darianna Littlepage-Buggs 6'1" | SF Classen SAS | 2022 State #24 Nation OK | 6-1 SF | Classen SAS | @DariannaBuggs22
DLB has been the no-doubt No. 1 player in this class for a while now and nothing has happened to change that in recent months. She continues to shine both on the local level and with her Classen SAS squad at big-time national tournaments. Darianna is a Naismith Player of the Year nominee and a McDonald’s All-American nominee and that won’t be the end of her senior season accolades. Littlepage-Buggs is the epitome of a well-rounded player as she can handle, rebound, pass, defend and score from all three levels. There isn’t much she can’t do and it is clear why the Baylor Bears are still tweeting on a weekly basis about why they are so excited to have her coming to join them next season.
No. 2 – Karley Johnson Karley Johnson 5'9" | CG Mustang | 2022 State OK | 5-9 CG | Mustang | @KarleyJohnsonOK
Another McDonald’s All-American nominee, Karley is averaging 13.1 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. She is no slouch in the other important combo guard areas either with 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game, too. She is truly an all-arounder and that is the reason she ranks up here with the best in the state. The Arkansas commit is going to fit right in on Head Coach Mike Neighbors’ Razorbacks squad with her hard-nosed style and her ability to fill it up from deep. Several other former highly ranked Oklahoma players have made a home there and Karley will be joining a long line of tremendous Sooner State talent to head to Fayetteville.
No. 3 – Mikayla Parks Mikayla Parks 5'8" | SG Norman | 2022 State OK | 5-8 SG | Norman | @MikaylaParks12
Despite missing the season thus far with an injury, Mikayla was still nominated as a McDonald’s All-American no doubt due in large part to her previous years and the greatness she achieved on the court for the Norman Tigers. The 2021 champions were one of the best teams Oklahoma may have ever seen and Mikayla was a huge part of that squad. The Tigers also won it all in 2019. Mikayla is a dynamic scorer with great handles who can throw her defender off guard with her change of speed and a killer stop and pop that is almost unmatched in Oklahoma. It will be great to see her back out on the court either for Norman or if not, then definitely next season for the Kansas State Wildcats.
No. 4 – Myka Perry Myka Perry 5'10" | CG Norman | 2022 State OK | 5-10 CG | Norman | @mykagp_
After dealing with some injury issues, Myka took some time off to recover and get ready for her move to the University of Florida next season. It didn’t stop her from receiving a McDonald’s All-America nomination and it didn’t stop her from being ranked in what would have been her final season in high school basketball. It would have been nice to see her, but I as a scout had seen her in several previous seasons and still could say I knew exactly how good she is. I don’t think that has changed with some time off. Perry was the point guard for the undefeated Norman Tigers last season and ran the show. She is fluid, smooth, and supremely confident when it comes to taking care of the ball. Perry is probably the best pure point guard in the state and deserves to be ranked for that reason.
No. 5 – Hadley Periman Hadley Periman 6'2" | PF Tuttle | 2022 State OK | 6-2 PF | Tuttle | @hadleyperiman21
Periman is part of Tuttle’s “twin towers” inside with junior Landry Allen Landry Allen 6'3" | C Tuttle | 2023 State OK and the two of them combined spell doom for many, many 4A competitors. Their championship last season was the first in school history. Periman is not just a force inside because of her height, she is also very strong. A tough player, she relishes the chance to battle down low. She is a very good rebounder and a player who does all of the little things to win a ball game – including stepping out and hitting a three occasionally. Periman is committed to Tulsa and it will be very fun to see how she fits into head coach Angie Nelp’s offense with one of last year’s top prospects Temira Poindexter who is proving to be one of the best freshmen in college basketball.
