Pinkerton Academy and Bishop Guertin are arguably the two best teams in New Hampshire, and they lived up to that hype on Thursday night. In one of the best games I have seen this winter, Pinkerton Academy overcame a 9 point halftime deficit and won 74-66, sparked by two of New England’s best underclassmen. Below are the standouts.

[player_tooltip player_id="269442" first="Elizabeth" last="Lavoie"] - Pinkerton Academy - 5’11’’ - SG - ’24
Lavoie continues to show that she is one of the most skilled offensive players in her class. Ending the game with 25 points, Lavoie carried the scoring load for Pinkerton against a physical and fundamentally sound Bishop Guertin defense. She dominated using her off-hand, and the opponent could not contain Lavoie from going to her left. Lavoie was aggressive in the second half and put pressure on the defense by attacking relentlessly, and getting to the basket and foul line at will. Lavoie’s stock continued to trend up as she saved her best performance against the most elite competition.

[player_tooltip player_id="273941" first="Sydney" last="Gerossie"] - 5’8’’ - PG - ’25
In the biggest matchup of the season, Gerossie didn’t look like a freshman on the court. Yes, her 21 points were highly impressive considering the competition, but her poise and shot-making ability in the 4th is what aided in Pinkerton Academy staying undefeated. Down the stretch, I thought Gerossie was money and a dynamic playmaker who changed the game’s complexity when she was aggressive.

[player_tooltip player_id="263847" first="Avah" last="Ingalls"] - 5’9’’ - CG - ’22
Ingalls didn’t have the best shooting night but made sure to impact the game in other ways to help Pinkerton win. She was a beast on the boards totaling 11 points which included a couple of big offensive rebounds. Ingalls wing facilitation was good as well, and she racked up 5 assists to go with her 12 points. Calm, cool, and collected Ingalls was in the closing moments, and the Assumption commit never looked rattled in the games’ biggest moments.
Bishop Guertin Standouts:

[player_tooltip player_id="267250" first="Brooke" last="Paquette"] - 5’8’’ - CG - ’23
Paquette continued her torrid January with a ridiculous 28-point performance Thursday night. Paquette was destroying the Pinkerton defense from all three levels and was highly efficient at shooting off the dribble. She was super aggressive attacking the rim and found herself at the line a handful of times due to her vicious slashing. She is the ultimate competitor who never takes plays off on both sides of the floor. Paquette left it all out on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="266713" first="Catelyn" last="Wheeler"] - 5’11’’ - SG/SF - ’23
Wheeler, all around, is solid and is the master of doing all the little things for Bishop Guertin. She spaced the floor well and showed her great catch-and-shoot ability with a corner three in the second half. Wheeler runs the floor well and hustles back on defense as well as anyone. What I like most about Wheeler is that she doesn’t make many mistakes and can significantly impact a game without touching the basketball.
