Some high schools are especially fortunate to have a strong duo or trio of future college players leading their squads. Below are some of the top duos and trios in Washington’s high school scene.
<h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Tahoma High School Trio</strong></span></h4>
2023 6’0 SF [player_tooltip player_id="115415" first="Amelie" last="Sitterud"], 2023 5’7 [player_tooltip player_id="115402" first="Hope" last="Hassmann"], 2023 5’7 SG [player_tooltip player_id="115398" first="Angie" last="Cavanaugh"]
These three give the Tahoma Lady Bears a veratile attack from all over the court. Hassmann (Cal Poly Commit) has the ball in her hands a lot and looks to make scoring plays as a scoring PG threat. Sitterud (LMU Commit) has diversified her game by finishing in the paint, rebounding and doing small things for her team that help them win. Cavanaugh is a seconday ball handler that is a double digit scorer with the ability to break the defense down and make plays. These three have been a major part of Tahoma’s 13-2 overall record according to Maxpreps.
<h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Kamiakin 2023 Duo</strong></span></h4>
2023 5’9 CG [player_tooltip player_id="115419" first="Nikole" last="Thomas"], 2023 5’11 SF [player_tooltip player_id="115411" first="Maddy" last="Rendall"]
Thomas is a lefty guard that does a little bit of everything on the floor for Kamiakin. The Memphis commit scores, rebounds and defends while playing with good pace. Rendall is a prospect who has steadily made strides and putting her length and motor together with an improved skill set. This 2023 duo has helped the Lady Braves to a 10-5 record overall according to Maxpreps.
<h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Woodinville 2022 Duo</strong></span></h4>
2022 5’8 PG [player_tooltip player_id="27947" first="Veronica" last="Sheffey"], 2022 6’0 SF [player_tooltip player_id="156428" first="Tatum" last="Thompson"]
Two Division 1 commits lead this group as the steady seniors. Sheffey is the primary ball handler that does a good job of scoring and assisting. The San Diego commit is as steady of a player that you can find from the point guard position in the state. Thompson has continued to blossom and now averages 19 points per game. The leap in scoring was exactly what I had said Woodinville would need to win it all and she is doing just that. Thompson is headed to Boise State for her college ball. The Lady Falcons are 14-1 overall with no losses to any 4A teams.
