New Year resolutions are a long standing tradition and a good way to self reflect on some improvements and changes that individuals may want to make. That includes me and my work. I always have to strive to be better. I’m making a resolution in 2022 to see the 5 post players. This could mean seeing them either more or for the first time.
Claire Gregwer Claire Gregwer 6'0" | PF Grandville | 2022 State MI (2022, PF, Grandville)
Gregwer is a really talented player. She’s so active on the floor and has a knack for chasing down rebounds and loose balls. Gregwer can score in traffic and has a terrific mid range game. She has shown a really effective spin move and jumper from around the elbow as well. Gregwer can put up a double-double on any given night.
Keelyn Laird Keelyn Laird 6'3" | C Ludington | 2023 State MI (2023, C, Ludington)
Laird is a well schooled post player. She catches the ball high and with strong hands, keeping her defenders at bay. I really like the way Laird works in the post. She secures a post feed, makes a simple and effective move to the rim, and finishes at a high percentage. Laird keeps the ball high and doesn’t have to put it on the floor to find the rim.
Sarah Rekowski Sarah Rekowski 6'3" | C Hartland | 2024 State MI (2024, C, Hartland)
I was lucky to see Rekowski play a pretty good amount over the summer and fall, and please believe me, her improvement was drastic. I’m looking forward to seeing where 2022 takes her. She’s a physical and mobile post player that brings a sense of toughness to the floor. Rekowski is a nice 2 way player with a huge upside.
Piper Risdon Piper Risdon 5'11" | PF Lowell | 2024 State MI (2024, PF, Lowell)
Risdon plays on a team with a nice amount of star level perimeter talent, but she’s fun to watch in her own right. She locks down the lane for her guards. Risdon is the type of post player that could very well average a double-double before it’s all said and done. Risdon really looks like a future college basketball player to me.
Olivia Siedlecki Olivia Siedlecki 6'0" | PF Jenison | 2023 State MI (2023, PF, Jenison)
Siedlecki is committed to Lawrence Tech, and their coaching staff must be thrilled. She’s legitimate multi level scorer that carries a tough pull up jumper. Siedlecki can basically defend from anywhere on the floor as well. Her versatility and ability to have an influence on both ends makes her a must see prospect.
