After taking two tough losses this week, the New Mission Titans really ramped it up this game against Charlestown High School in a 62-32 Thursday night win, as they are looking to prepare for the fight to possibly take the title as the 2022 Boston City League Champions next month. With players putting up some big numbers this game, here are the standouts.

Returning starter for the New Mission Titans, the junior point guard took advantage of Charlestowns’ defense and had a career-high leading with 40-points. Ferreira came out of the locker room from halftime on fire and finished off the second-half of the game with 30 points, which stretched the lead tremendously. Her sturdy control of the ball had her moving up the court and sliding by defenders with ease. With shooting being her strongest weapon and being quick off the dribble, she had 4 3-pointers. The right-handed guard was also dominant with her left, successfully finishing multiple layups despite the contact. Overall, she’s a great, hardworking floor general who’s hard to contain and keeps her defenders on their toes.

Regardless of being younger than the majority of the girls, Darling played a big leadership role for New Mission and chipped in a good 18 points and 7 steals. Darling easily takes the title for being New Mission’s most aggressive player, playing high pressure defense, stepping on the gas every defensive play to intercept passes from her opponents, as well as being strong and quick when attacking the rim, it didn’t matter how many hands were in reach for the rebound, Darling always found a way to make it hers. She was a workhorse for putbacks and her tough stamina allowed her to stay in the game more than anyone. She’ll definitely have a bright basketball career moving up.

5’1 guard, Ramirez was a clear example of the saying, "Heart over Height". She was probably one of the fastest players on the court. Her size and speed made it hard for defenders to catch up to her, especially when going coast-to-coast. She secures the ball really well in transition and when attacking the basket. Ramirez has great ability creating space for her shots and had some fancy dimes to assist her teammates. Her sneaky and clean layup package allowed her to finish with 20 points of her team’s 32 points. Another young leader this game, she communicated well with her teammates on the court. Ramirez is an impressive, exciting and energetic player to watch and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store.
