Players that Caught My Eye

The month of January is closing out with some great individual play by players all across the state. Let’s take a look at some players that’s stepped up big for their respective teams. <strong>Abree McCrotty | Guard | 2023 | Hector High School</strong> Abree can score the ball and make plays for her teammates. In the half-court, she can attack off the catch and get to the rim and finish in a variety of ways. Her footwork and control are good enough to avoid the defender rotating over for the charge. She is also an on-target passer to the cutter that can lead to easy baskets. Defensively she gets in the passing lane and exhibits quick hands to get steals and deflections. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="305923" first="Ronni" last="Formby"] | Forward | 2022 | Lakeside High School</strong> Ronni showed some skills that you don’t see too often these days. She exhibited the ability to set the defender up and read the screen for the catch and shoot three-pointer. She also knows how to feed the post and rebounds on the offensive end. She’s also aggressive on the defensive end of the floor going after rebounds. This allows her to initiate the fastbreak for her team. <strong>Amelia Rogers | Wing | 2024 | Lakeside High School</strong> Amelia is a threat from the wing position. She can attack off the dribble and finish at the rim in traffic. She gets out in transition and attacks the rim. She can be physical by initiating contact on defense to draw fouls. She plays with a lot of energy and effort when guarding the ball. She has quick hands as the primary defender and when playing the passing lanes. <strong>Bracelynn Glover | Post | 2022 | Magnolia High School</strong> Bracelynn is an athletic, physical, and aggressive post player. She’s a workhorse who plays with energy and effort that all coaches love. Opposing players have to bring their hardhat when trying to keep Bracelynn off the offensive boards. She’s aggressive and fights for every rebound. She can also post up on the low block and be a scoring threat. <strong>Janayi Baker | Guard | 2022 | Magnolia High School</strong> Janayi is a quick, athletic guard that loves to get out in transition. Her speed and quickness make her a tough player to contain in the open floor. She plays under control in transition and sees the floor well enough to make the right play. Defensively she plays with an edge. She’s aggressive and can force the offense to be uncomfortable. <strong>Dayvana Sanders | Wing | 2022 | Camden Fairview High School</strong> Dayvana is a wing that possesses several skills. She has a good handle with a change of pace that keeps the defender off balance. This allows her to get into the teeth of the defense and finish in traffic. She pushes the ball well in transition and is always looking to pass ahead. Dayvana will also sacrifice her body on defense by sliding in front of the offense and taking the charge.
