Libby Brewster (Francis Howell): The 5’10” wing earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team as she averaged 23 points a game to lead all scorers in the field. Her offensive skills are vast as she is a strong post player who can score with both hands in the paint. I liked her jump hoop on the baseline over the left shoulder. She moves well without the ball and can score on off-ball cuts. She also displayed a nice 3-point stroke from the perimeter. She scored 28 points in the third-place game against Summit.
Brooklyn Spillman (Battle): The senior wing was selected to the All-Tournament Team after leading the Spartans to a berth in the championship game. She was very effective in how she worked inside the middle of a zone defense with her ability to pass the ball and put it on the floor to make a move to the basket. She had good ball fakes to set up her dribble drive moves to the basket.
Avery Vincent (Summit): A crafty point guard who earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team after leading her team to a third-place finish. Her passing skills are excellent as she slipped some very impressive dimes to teammates to buckets. She has a high basketball IQ to go along with her good court vision. She scored 11 points in the victory over Francis Howell in the third place game, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Trinniti Cook (Parkway West): The talented guard was one of the top scorers in the tournament at 20 points a game. In the game I watched, she scored 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a victory over Lutheran North in the consolation round. She used her speed to get out in the open court and get a number of buckets in transition, plus she knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.
Abbie Zensen (Parkway West): A solid guard who had a very good all-around performance in the game that I watched against Lutheran North in the consolation round. She had a near triple-double as she had 15 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists. She moved the ball well and really advanced it in the the transition game. Her 3-point shooting was on point as she hit three triples on the evening.
Symone Thomas (Lutheran North): The 6’0″ forward is a physical post player who excels as a rebounder. She uses her strength to battle inside for position very well. She also displayed a couple of nice moves around the basket, including an impressive spin move for a left-handed layup.
