Although I wasn’t there to see it live, the magic of PassThaBall allowed me to catch this excitement and with #D1 seniors Maya Linton Maya Linton 6'1" | PF Duncanville | 2022 State TX (UTSA) and Kiersten Johnson Kiersten Johnson 6'3" | C Duncanville | 2022 State TX (Oklahoma) as well as future #D1 Tristen Taylor Tristen Taylor 5'4" | PG Duncanville | 2023 State TX out with a foot injury, forming the Big 3 for Duncanville, the underclassmen stepped up in a huge way so here we go
2023
Kaidyn Beckwith-5’5 G (Conway)
Beckwith is one of the reasons I don’t look at scoresheets to grasp anything but her energy on both ends was exciting especially when she helped create numerous turnovers by forcing players into traps or just coming up with steals yet her “never takes a play-off” mentality played a huge part in them being in a position to win
Chloe Clardy Chloe Clardy 5'9" | PG Conway | 2023 State AR -5’10 SG (Conway)
Clardy put on one of the best individual offensive performances I’ve seen in a very long time. She scored off the dribble with ease, the pull-up jumper in the set, the stop and pop in transition as well as scoring after playing the passing lane, she put her team on her back and was very successful but just watching her create her shot while being guarded spoke volumes, so did her 38 points, 2 threes and 3 free throws, everything else midrange and off the dribble and that gives you a glimpse of what she’s going to do at the next level
Savannah Scott Savannah Scott 6'4" | C Conway | 2023 State AR -6’4 C (Conway)
Scott was solid on the interior and scored multiple times after the lick but she also did a good job of “going after the ball” off the rim. Her mobility also stood out as she showed a few moves around the basket plus she ran the floor on both ends yet her interior defense was solid as she used her 76 inches as well as her wingspan to give the offensive players something to think about as she blocked, altered as well as deflected shots throughout the event and in the finals
Victoria Flores-5’7 SG (Duncanville)
Flores hit a huge shot down the stretch which reminds me of what I saw from her in the 7th grade and she’s definitely going to make a huge debut on the Top 100 simply because she should already be there yet I lost track of her but it seems like players are losing track of her on the court, which isn’t good because she’s one of the top shooters in the state and she dropped 19 from a variety of ways in the championship
2024
Tajenae Gooden-5’10 (Duncanville)
Gooden keeps showing not only how GOOD she is but what she’s on the verge of becoming and 5 long balls in the finals don’t really do her justice because she also set teammates for baskets by attacking the rim and dishing. She too will be added to the Top 100 yet her intensity throughout the game played a huge part in them winning it
2025
Kenidi Glover Kenidi Glover 6'0" | PF Duncanville | 2025 State TX -5’10 PF/P (Duncanville)
Glover was simply unstoppable around the basket, I’ve said that countless times yet what I was even more impressed with was not only her taking the defender off the dribble but using body control to finish. She is a terror around the rim, a battler that goes after the ball like there is no tomorrow, all things you can’t teach, and her 23 points
Kaylinn Kemp Kaylinn Kemp 5'9" | CG Duncanville | 2025 State TX -5’8 CG (Duncanville)
Kemp handled running the point with Tristen Taylor Tristen Taylor 5'4" | PG Duncanville | 2023 State TX out and handled it well, her explosive first step was part of it yet her court vision and making the right passes to the right people just told me a lot about her maturity as well as confidence because of her poise under this type of pressure was very good. She created her shot, knocked it down throughout the event yet her controlling the tempo as well as pushing it in transition played a huge part in their championship
Alexis Cox-5’9 G (Conway)
Cox has a bright future, her size and ability to score is part of it, her rebounding and defense are another part yet her playing under pressure and not being flustered in this setting definitely grabbed my attention
