In the last of Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey’s articles about the South v Shore Showcase from last Saturday, it only seemed fitting to give out All-Tournament selections for the tournament in full. We won’t be going by position. Instead, we’ll just be doing a First Team and Second Team for the tournament as a whole in no particular order. It was so hard to narrow down the list to five for each team.
You’ve seen us talk about most of these players already in previous articles, which you can find links for on our Twitter (@PGHNewJersey) or by subscribing to us. First Team
[player_tooltip player_id="134757" first="Gabby" last="Recinto"] - Cherokee
Recinto led the Cherokee with 17 points in a 36-32 win over Donovan Catholic. The junior forward was dominant from start to finish and has been that way the entire season for the Chiefs. Watch out for her to continue to dominate in the Olympic Conference moving forward.
Madison Clark - Haddon Heights
Clark was tied for the most points scored in the showcase with 26 in a losing effort against Holmdel. However, she’s been the glue girl for this team the entire way and even in the loss, she kept the Garnets in the game against the Hornets without a doubt.
[player_tooltip player_id="319340" first="Adriana" last="Agosto"] - Rancocas Valley
Agosto gave the home crowd something to go crazy about in the opening game of the showcase, scoring 26 in a 54-32 win for the Red Devils. It was a dominant performance for the superstar guard and she was as electric as she’s been her entire career and it was exciting to see.
Emma Steidle - Clearview
Steidle showed up and showed out for Clearview in a 51-35 win over Red Bank Regional, scoring 22 points and knocking down 3 three-pointers on the day. She’s been an exciting watch from the perimeter and defensively, she hauled in five rebounds and recorded a block and two steals.
[player_tooltip player_id="325192" first="Devyn" last="Quigley"] - Manchester Township
Quigley and Manchester Township came up just short against Gloucester Catholic, losing 47-45, but the sophomore might have had the game of the showcase, a 25-point, nine-rebound performance. Quigley put the Hawks on her back the entire game and showed just how incredible her sophomore season has been.
Second Team
[player_tooltip player_id="319336" first="Angelina" last="Barrera"] - Gloucester Catholic
Barrera led the Rams with 17 points in a tight 47-45 win over Manchester Township and she’s been one of the main leaders on this team for some time now. Alongside sister Natalia, the duo has made mince meat of the Tri-County Conference this season.
Maddie Bell - Lacey
Bell had an impressive 11-point, 10-rebound double-double in a dominant win for Lacey and her presence has steadily grown in recent weeks. It’s been an impressive watch so far and Bell has been a reliable leader for this team overall.
Alexandra Loucopoulos - Holmdel
Loucopoulos led Holmdel in scoring in their 60-50 win over Haddon Heights, recording 18 points along with six rebounds and four assists. She found her stride in the third quarter and rode that momentum for the rest of the game.
Katherine Martini - Holmdel
Martini was incredibly impressive against Haddon Heights and arguably had the best game of any player on Holmdel, with 14 points and nine rebounds. She’s finding her groove in the middle and is capitalizing on opportunity after opportunity.
[player_tooltip player_id="333320" first="Christina" last="Liggio"] - Red Bank Catholic
Liggio had a career day for Red Bank Catholic as the freshman scored 18 points in a dominant win over Eastern. She stepped up in a big way and is showing her ceiling for this team moving forward. The Shore Conference has to watch out because Liggio is just getting started.
Honorable Mentions
Sarah Zimmerman - Lacey
Zimmerman led Lacey with 14 points in their 44-32 win over Washington Township, also recording eight rebounds, two assists and three steals. It was her fourth-straight game scoring in double-figures and her 10th in 12 games this season.
Olivia Conroy - Donovan Catholic
Conroy was the engine behind Donovan Catholic’s team in their 36-32 loss against Cherokee, scoring 14 points along with four rebounds and three steals. It was her fifth game scoring 14+ points so far this season.
Mary Elizabeth Donnelly - Manasquan
Donnelly had another great game as we’ve come to expect for Manasquan, scoring a game-high 15 points along with three rebounds and three assists. She also knocked a three-pointer, her third-straight game with at least one made three.
[player_tooltip player_id="319334" first="Mia" last="Robbins"] - Eastern
Robbins was back to her usual self, scoring 16 points along with two rebounds and two steals on Saturday. Despite Eastern losing to Red Bank Catholic, her success on the floor is a positive sign moving forward for the Vikings.
[player_tooltip player_id="325194" first="Ana" last="Pellecchia"] - Clearview
Pellecchia scored 14 points and hauled in six rebounds in Clearview’s win over Red Bank Regional, along with three assists, a block, five steals and two made three-pointers. A very impressive day overall for the superstar guard.
