Some highly ranked teams went down in a well run event at Wiregrass Sports Complex that hosted a ton of top talent. Here are some of my top posts/bigs/forwards that are currently unsigned:
Alancia Ramsey Alancia Ramsey 6'0" | PF St Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL – St. Thomas Aquinas – 2023
Alancia was the most impressive true big I saw at TBCI. She is long and athletic which makes her dangerous with the high motor she has. Alancia is really strong around the rim with her ability to control the glass and finish through contact. Her toughness really showed all 3 games against elite opponents (Central Pointe, Bearden TN, and St John-Vianney NJ). I can see her making a real impact for a major program at the next level.
Kali Barrett Kali Barrett 6'2" | SF Cardinal Mooney | 2025 State FL – Cardinal Mooney – 2025
Kali may be a new name/face for some, but I knew she was going to be special after seeing her over the past couple summers. She saw some of the best competition of her young career, and put herself on the radar early with her excellent play. She posted 14 and 6 against Farragut (Knoxville, TN) and did the same against Westminster. She lifted her team to a win over Charlotte with a 15 point/16 rebound double double performance on the last day of the tournament. You can tell she is young, but she is playing like an poised vet on a talented team. You’ll be hearing a lot more of her name down the road.
Reese Tremitiere Reese Tremitiere 6'1" | PF Gulf Coast | 2022 State FL – Gulf Coast – 2022
Reese is a fantastic student most importantly, but she’s also a really good basketball player. She helped lead her team to a 2-1 record at TBCI with a 15 point/12 rebound game vs. Cookeville (TN), 18 and 8 against Spruce Creek, and 19 points/9 boards over Clearwater. Reese is a lefty, but she’s one of the few posts I’ve seen that can consistently finish with both hands. She attacks the glass, and can stretch her game out to the arch. She’ll be an awesome fit at the next level with any program.
Sumayah Lewis-McIntosh – Lakewood – 2025
Sumayah was the best new face I saw at TBCI. She’s still pretty raw, but she had some really nice footwork and moves down low with a strong ability to finish. For her size, she could handle the rock well and saw the floor, too. Sumayah was also tenacious on the boards and crowded the passing lanes on defense. She’s a player to keep an eye on as she continues to develop into a star in Pinellas County.
Tyja Beans Tyja Beans 6'0" | PF Spruce Creek | 2023 State FL – Spruce Creek – 2023
Tyja already has some really nice offers, and that list will only continue to grow in the next year. She’s one of those players you want on your team because she is strong and will outwork just about anyone. Her outside shot continues to develop, and she rebounds with the best of them. Tyja is going to continue to be a big time leader on a Spruce Creek squad that competes year in and out.
Yakiya Milton Yakiya Milton 6'4" | PF Mandarin | 2024 FL – University Christian – 2023
Yakiya is the definition of length and athleticism. It’s incredible to see her stride out and be able to do anything on the floor with her height. She can bring it up the court, drive to the rim, and finish over anyone. She’s a big presence in the lane for opposing teams and can take over the game when she needs to. She’s a special player with some big offers, and she has the skill to propel her team to make a run in class 2A with the coaching and team they’ve assembled.
LeighAnn Hanley LeighAnn Hanley 6'1" | PF Carrollwood Day | 2024 State FL – Carrollwood Day – 2024
Leighann improves every time I see her play. Her mid-range game is very strong, and she’s tough to stop around the rim. She is aggressive on the boards and is mobile on both ends. I imagine she’s going to be grabbing the attention of a lot of college programs that are always looking for size.
Tyra Brown Tyra Brown 6'2" | SF Fort Myers | 2023 State FL – Ft Myers – 2023
Tyra is another long, athletic player in the Sunshine State. She’s very versatile and crashes the boards with tenacity. She’s going to need to be a leader on a Ft. Myers team that lost two really good players to graduation. I think she will grow a lot this season and next as one of the best players in Southwest Florida as the go-to girl for the Green Wave.
