<p class="p1"><span class="s1">North Carolina still has plenty of talent ready to show off their skills at the next level.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Check out these guards who are located in the western part of the state.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="295028" first="Layla" last="Wall"] | Hopewell | PG</b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Wall has been showing off her ball handling for years, and she is making sure to go out with a bang her senior season.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She is averaging in the double digits with points and finding ways to get assists, steals, and even rebounds making contributions all over the court.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She anticipates passes on defense, and she shows a “next play” mentality quickly getting up the court no matter what her opponents do to get another opportunity to score.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Her speed without the ball can outrun her opponents trying to chase her down.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b>Leilaya McMillan | Cherokee | CG</b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">McMillan uses her vision of the court to excel on both ends.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She can see what players are hoping to do on defense to knock the ball away and even use these steals for fast break opportunities.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She is quick with the ball showing off nice handles to get plays going, and she finds her teammates to get them some points close to the basket.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She has a quick release on her shot and is able to drain it from deep.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="207411" first="Lariyah" last="Clark"] | Langtree Charter | CG</b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Clark (pictured above) is a guard who can handle the ball well but also body someone on her way to the hoop still showing off a nice finish at the rim.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She does a great job making adjustments as she is going up for her shot to make sure the ball goes through the hoop.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She appears to come out of nowhere on defense grabbing steals to push them up the court for some fast break opportunities.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>With this resume, it’s no surprise she’s averaging over 20 points a game.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b>Madison Gibson-Blackwell | Hopewell | CG</b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Gibson-Blackwell has a nice release from the ball hustling up the court as soon as her team gains the possession to make herself available for fast break opportunities.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She’s intimidating on defense knocking the ball away from dribbling guards trying to get around her for the steal.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She doesn’t shy away from contact as she battles for some points close to the basket.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="219866" first="Mazie" last="Helpman"] | Swain County | CG</b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Helpman is crafty with the ball when working to create space between her and her opponent.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She can make some nice ball swings to throw them off to get to the hoop or step back for a jump shot.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She stays ready to shoot even from behind the arc draining some from deep.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She does well sealing off opponents like a post player, and she handles the ball efficiently finding her open teammates underneath the basket.</span></p>
