Now, this won’t be like everyone else who just writes about the familiar kids, these are some names who you may or may not be familiar with, but they are ones to watch in the next couple of weeks through the sectionals.
Let’s start with Division 1 on the Dayton area!
Dayton Division 1 Sleepers to Watch
Dara Russo, 5-8 2022, Miamisburg- She is a very solid player who often gets overlooked with the firepower they have, but Dara has shown me a lot the few times I saw Miamisburg this season. She is averaging 7.8 points and over 9 rebounds, she loves to do the little things to help her team be successful. Hard-nosed, good basketball IQ.
Chloe Downing Chloe Downing 5'10" | SF Springboro | 2024 OH , 5-11 2024, Springboro- The Panthers have a lot of firepower including some key seniors and talented underclassmen, but Chloe is a player who can bring a lot to the table. Love her intensity and work ethic. Averaging 7.1 points, 3.5 rebounds per game.
Tymarah De’Armond, 5-7 2022, Springfield- She has put together a solid season, and is the leader of the Wildcats. Doesn’t get much attention due to the incredible talent in the GWOC. Averaged 10 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Been steady this season, looking to close out her senior season strong.
Ashley Frantz, 6-0 2023, Bellbrook- On a team loaded with so many good guards, Ashley controls the paint and has a complete game. Good hands and range, can score from inside or out. Averaging 6.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Good work ethic and working to make her game better.
Lilli Leopard, 5-8 2024, Beavercreek- With a D1 signee on her team, Lilli is a great option to contribute and help take the pressure off of Maci Rhoades Maci Rhoades 5'10" | SF Beavercreek | 2022 OH . Love her perimeter game, great hands and pressuring defense. Scoring 9.5 points and 6 rebounds per game.
Madi Moore, 5-3 2023, Tecumseh- Her game has really blossomed this year and she compliments Gabby Russell Gabby Russell 5'9" | SF Tecumseh | 2023 State OH well for the Arrows. Good shooter, active on defense and can anticipate well. Averaging 8.2 points and 5 rebounds per game.
Kiara Hudgins Kiara Hudgins 5'3" | PG Sidney | 2024 State OH , 5-4 2024, Sidney- Really blossomed into a great leader and has done so with injuries to key upperclassmen. She has the complete package, can shut you down on defense and is a good floor leader. Averaging 6.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. (feature photo above)
Molly Scott, 6-0 2022, Centerville- She is having a solid year and will be taking her talents to Wittenberg so she is really not a ‘sleeper’, but for now, she is one of the keys for Centerville to close out the GWOC title. Good strong player with good footwork in the paint, good hands and can score. Also a good rebounder. Averaging 6.3 points and 5.8 rebounds.
Megan Taylor, 5-9 2022, Centerville- Another Elks player who has really opened eyes this season playing on a talented, deep team. Megan is scoring at a pace of 11.2 points per game and 7.5 rebounds. One to watch in the post season.
Imani Frazier Imani Frazier 5'11" | PF Huber Heights Wayne | 2025 State OH , 6-0 2025, Wayne- Such a good prospect with a good skillset, Imani (pictured left) can really take control of the paint. Strong physical kid with a great upside. Can run the floor well and score from the perimeter. Averaging 8.3 points, 5 rebounds per game.
Lauren Dady, 6-1 2024, Vandalia Butler- Everyone knows their top two, but the game I saw Dady this year, she came off the bench and dominated the boards. She is like Windex as she can clean the glass. Averaging 5.0 points and 11 rebounds per game.
Neveah Millerton, 6-0 2023, West Carrollton- She moved over from Butler this season and has had some big games for the Pirates. Solid productive player who is strong and able to play physical. Range and can defend. Averaging 5.9 points and 5.2 rebounds.
