Many folks will write about the big names as they have deceived all the ink. This week, we will look at the rising stars. Here are some of the younger rising standouts to watch this weekend in Cincinnati:
Division 1 District Rising Stars to Watch
Daniah Trammell Daniah Trammell 6'1" | PF Winton Woods | 2025 State OH , 6-1 2025, Winton Woods- This young lady is one of the hardest workers in the Cincinnati area, and she is only a freshman! Haleigh wrote about her back in January at the Classic in the City, and she just continues to grow her game. She earned the honors of second-team all-conference and she has enjoyed seven double-doubles this season. Very solid on the boards and plays very solid in the paint. They are losing all-American Chance Gray Chance Gray 5'9" | PG Winton Woods | 2022 State #40 Nation OH to graduation but I expect Daniah to really take her game to another level next season!
Taylor Scohy Taylor Scohy 5'9" | SF Bellbrook | 2024 State OH , 5-9 2024, Bellbrook- If you need a multidimensional guard/wing who can do a lot of things for your team, Taylor is your player. She runs the floor well and is effective in transition. Defensively she will lock down the opponents best player, is active and athletic. Does a great job finding her teammates, can score and dish for the best option. Player of the Year in her league, her ceiling is huge.
Bryn Martin, 5-11 2025, Springboro- The leader of a very impressive young group of players at Springboro. Bryn is very talented in all phases of the game. She displays good floor leadership for someone so young, with a good offensive skillset. Long and athletic, she can take over a game, and can guard multiple positions on the floor. Big matchup in the district finals against Mason and their size.
Caroline McDowell Caroline McDowell 5'8" | CG Centerville | 2025 OH , 5-7 2025, Centerville- My colleague Haleigh first mentioned her to me way back during opening week when we saw her play, and her game continues to grow. She is a very proficient perimeter player with good range beyond the arc. Caroline moves well without the ball and gets herself into position to best help her team. Solid defender, good handles and a smart basketball IQ.
Kali Fortson, 6-1 2025, Princeton- On a team loaded with starting upperclassmen, Kali comes off the bench and provides good minutes handling things in the paint. Good touch around the rim, she is strong and physical and is able to defend around the rim. A bright future and she hopes to help lead her team deep into the tournament with eyes on a trip to Dayton for the final four. One of my colleague Angie’s favorite stock risers!
Brooke Asher Brooke Asher 5'7" | SG Lakota East | 2025 State OH , 5-7 2025, Lakota East- She is a player with a lot of intensity and energy, she is a key component for her teams success into the district finals. Fits in well with the older experienced players, Brooke (feature photo) is a future star who is quickly gaining a lot of attention, Good outside game and can put the ball on the floor.
Madison Parrish Madison Parrish 6'0" | SF Mason | 2025 State OH , 5-11 2025, Mason- She is no longer a surprise to anyone who watches Cincinnati area hoops. Madison is long and athletic, aggressive and a difference maker for the Comets. Has good range behind the arc, excellent rebounder and does a good job finding their McDonalds All-American post in the paint. She is very special.
