First up, a look at the Southwest Regional Division 1 which will pit all four schools from Cincinnati this year. Winton Woods, Mason, Princeton and Mount Notre Dame.
Division 1 @ Lakota West High School (new location)
Winton Woods vs Mason, Tuesday 6:00
Taking a Chance- She is a McDonalds All American and now Chance Gray Chance Gray 5'9" | PG Winton Woods | 2022 State #40 Nation OH (feature photo above) wants to become a state champion. She is as complete of a player as you will find, can score from anywhere and will take over a game at anytime. Chance is currently ranked #2 in the last PGH 2022 update. She dropped 31 as they defeated Centerville to get here including 7 threes. She is an extension of the coach on the floor, who just happens to be her father. 2022 Daysia Thompson is another key senior who will play a big factor in the continued success of this team.
New faces on the big stage- Daniah Trammell Daniah Trammell 6'1" | PF Winton Woods | 2025 State OH is only a freshman, but she is an exceptional talent with a high ceiling in front of her. On the season she is averaging 10 points per game, and has shown some good traits at times. Her game continues to evolve, and she is so good on the boards , she is nearly averaging a double-double. She has nine of those this season as a freshman. Mason also has a standout 2025 in Madison Parrish Madison Parrish 6'0" | SF Mason | 2025 State OH (PGH #4), and she is extremely talented for such a young player.
Feed the Paint- Kyla Oldacre Kyla Oldacre 6'5" | C Mason | 2022 State #42 Nation OH is a 6-5 2022 ranked #5 in the PGH rankings, and she is one of the most dominant post players in the country. She can control the glass, has a nice tough at the rim and can get to the line to help her team. She grabbed 16 boards in the district finals. She is averaging 4 offensive rebounds per game.
Mount Notre Dame vs Princeton, Tuesday 8:00
The Storyline- This is the game that everyone has been eyeing for a few months now. It is a rematch that goes right on script as MND comes in with a 97-game winning streak against the team that beat MND earlier in the season, but the result was overturned when Princeton used a JV player for too many quarters in that game and the 30-plus point victory by Princeton was reversed.
Battle of #1s- Now they meet again for much bigger stakes. MND comes in with KK Bransford KK Bransford 5'11" | PG Mount Notre Dame | 2022 State #6 Nation OH , the #1 ranked 2022 in the last PGH ranking update, averaging 21.6 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists per game and the explosive wing will have plenty of help from Abby Wolterman Abby Wolterman 6'1" | SF Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame | 2022 State OH (#19 2022 in PGH ranking) (pictured left) at 11.3 points per game, along with junior point guard Taylor Stanley Taylor Stanley 5'7" | CG Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame | 2023 State OH , one of the top in the state and ranked #26 in the 2023 class back in December. Princeton also has a #1 ranked player as Sole Williams Sole Williams 5'7" | CG Cincinnati Princeton | 2023 State OH tops the PGH 2023 rankings in their last update, and averaged 23.4 points per game. La’Sonja Hill La’Sonja Hill 5'7" | SG Cincinnati Princeton | 2023 State OH is a 5-6 2023 (early season Watch List) and contributes 13.5 points per game, and is a strong guard with a good skillset, able to hurt you from behind the arc. Also Dede Carter-Hartley is a 6-0 junior also scores in double figures, and is close on the boards.
The skinny- MND hasn’t forgotten about the first matchup…and neither has Princeton. Does MND have enough weapons to contain the explosive Vikings? Can KK put them on her back if needed?
