Greenon upset Miami East, Waynesville defeated Anna, and Preble Shawnee defeated Arcanum, the number one seed. We’ll take a look at some of the players to keep an eye on, including Seniors that are shining, Underclass Players to Watch, and the 5 MVPs who caught our eye.
Olivia Thompson Olivia Thompson 5'6" | CG Preble Shawnee | 2023 OH , 5-8 2023, Preble Shawnee- Her game has improved dramatically in the previous several years. Liv has good range beyond the three-point arc and can score from the perimeter. She can also put the ball on the floor and drive to the rim downhill. Excellent leader, strong defender, and versatile player. She has excellent court vision and can locate her teammates.
Kahlen Kulms Kahlen Kulms 6'0" | C Preble Shawnee | 2024 OH , 6-1 2024, Preble Shawnee- She comes off the bench and immediately makes an impact on the game. She is long and muscular, and she can get into defensive positions as well as control the boards. She makes good use of her stature, and she can keep the ball high on the rebound. She has a soft touch around the rim.
Camryn Francis, 6-0 2924, Miami East- A player with a promising future in the game. She is a 6-foot post, long and athletic and she uses her stature to help in the paint. Shots and passes can be deflected with her long arms. Her game should improve as she gains more experience. With a good productive off-season, she could be a bigger factor next season.
Emme Greely 5-9 2024, Waynesville- Coming off the bench, she displayed a strong skill set by being long and energetic on both sides of the ball. Emme’s midrange game is quite good. Since last season, when she was a freshman, her game has improved. She has good hands, can score near the rim, and can help her team create opportunities. Can play any position on the floor and be a good defender.
Kaitlyn Toy, 5-8 2023, Arcanum- Kaitlyn comes off the bench and knows her place on a team with three talented seniors. Toy is a valuable contributor who, despite her lack of scoring, is active and works hard on both ends of the court. She reads the play well and has a good midrange shot. She can also get to the rim.
