On February 2, 2022, one of the Natural State’s biggest rivalries came to head. I got to watch two of the best girl’s programs go head to head and I was not disappointed. Below are the standouts from the most recent game between the two respective teams.
Jasirae Vick (2022) | 5’6 G | North Little Rock High School
Jasirae is the prototypical guard every team needs. Rather it be rebounding, playmaking, or shooting, she has all the tools to be successful in a collegiate setting. In the first half against Central, she was quiet on the offensive end; however, still being productive on the defensive end. Coming up with steals that ignited runs from the Wildcats. In the end, she was the spark the Wildcats needed to get over the hump. she knocked down key shots in the end, nailing a three and an and-one in the closing minutes on a 8-2 run.
[player_tooltip player_id="304710" first="Destine" last="Duckworth"] (2022) | 5’10 F | North Little Rock High School
If you look up "bucket" in the dictionary, I’m certain [player_tooltip player_id="304710" first="Destine" last="Duckworth"] will be right next to it. A tenacious scorer, Duckworth worked the offensive end, being the driving point of the Wildcats’ offense. She showed no issues with scoring on all three levels, making it look easy. With her size, she was able to bully everyone in the paint where it seemed like she couldn’t miss. if you sagged off of her, she simply pulled it. Her flashy playstyle just adds to the cookie jar, principality plus fun for the game is a winning recipe for any team.
[player_tooltip player_id="305322" first="Lillian" last="Jackson"] (2022) | 6’0 F | Central High School
With a Kobe-esque game, Jackson is a must see. She plays at her own pace, bending the defense to her will. she loves the midrange game, using her handles to get to her spot and rise up. The lights and cameras never phased her as she tried to will the Tigers back into a game where they were once down fifteen. Not only does she control the flow of Central’s offense, she also has a high motor on defense. she never stops playing. She is a matchup nightmare who will fill the stat sheet every night, but this night the Wildcats filled it more.
Jordan Marshall (2024) | 6’0 | Central High School
Although she is the youngest on the list, [player_tooltip player_id="304688" first="Jordan" last="Marshall"] may very well be the toughest. She held her own in the paint, sinking multiple and-ones. aiding Jackson in an attempt to comeback on the Wildcats, Marshall made key shots and passes that slimmed the lead to 6. although they fell short, an eyeball test will tell you the sophomore guard’s frame and her ability to handle the ball makes her a hard matchup to deal with. She can do everything on the court, whether it is shoot, drive, pass or defend. a talent like [player_tooltip player_id="304688" first="Jordan" last="Marshall"] is hard to plan for. Furthermore, with Marshall being a sophomore, she will surely blossom into an even more defined player come her senior year of high school. I am excited to see what her future has in store.
