Continue ReadingThe Prep Girls Hoops Missouri Magical Stream Machine ventured to to Kansas City to watch the final two games of the North Kansas City Tournament, which featured four good teams in Park Hill South, St. Pius X, Lincoln Prep and Liberty. In two very competitive games, Park Hill South defeated St. Pius X for the championship while Lincoln Prep edged Liberty for third place.
Here is a look at some of the top young standouts in the tournament:
Regan Williams (Park Hill South): The 6’2″ 2024 wing was selected the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament after leading South to the championship. She scored 17 points in the championship game while excelling at every position on the court. She can post up and score with her height inside while also being able to facilitate and be a playmaker like a point guard.
Avery Simmons Avery Simmons 6'0" | CG Park Hill South | 2024 State MO (Park Hill South): The 6’0″ 2024 forward scored 13 points in the championship game victory over St. Pius. She has good mobility and a variety of excellent moves in the post. She scored on a spin move and a textbook up-and-under move as well. She also stepped out and hit a baseline jumper from 15 feet.
Ramyiah Logan Ramyiah Logan 5'7" | PG Lincoln Prep | 2023 State MO (Lincoln Prep): A 5’7″ 2023 point guard who led Lincoln to a victory in the third place game. She is physically strong with a nice ball handling skills with the ability to get to her spots on the floor. The lefty can power into the lane or hit a nice step-back jumper from 3-point range.
Marianna Tomc (Liberty): A 2023 guard who excels at both ends of the court. She was picking up about three steals a game during the tournament as she displayed excellent anticipation to be in the right spots to go along with her ball-hawking ability. She was also effective at attacking the basket and weaving through traffic to get buckets.
Ava Coons (St. Pius X): A 5’7″ 2024 guard who has good speed and was a good finisher in the transition game. She did all of her shooting from the field with her left hand, but she shot her free throws right-handed. She was also very alert on defense as she was always in position to make a deflection or get a steal.
Natalie Hill (Liberty): A 5’10” 2023 guard who was pretty effective inside and on the perimeter. She posted up well inside and at the same time, she could also grab a rebound and take it coast to coast for a bucket. She was also a solid defender who was very active.
Sh’Ryan Wright (Lincoln Prep): A 5’10” 2024 wing player who has a versatile skill set to go along with her height. She is a confident ball handler who does an excellent job passing the ball from different angles. She plays the game at her own pace and she doesn’t get sped up.
