Regional Playoffs: First Round/Quarterfinal Performances

With district play complete, we are moving on to regional playoffs on the road to states.  The first round provided some exciting action with great performances by known players and up and coming youngsters. Elizabeth Creed-2023-Meridian 22pts in first round victory over Culpeper for #1 ranked Meridian. Inside/Out presence, physical on the block with good court vision and makes easy pass to teammates cutting to basket.  She can step out on the perimeter and is a solid 3pt shooter.  Defensively, she has active hands and is able to guard multiple positions. [player_tooltip player_id="293237" first="Alden" last="Yergey"]-2023-Brentsville District Strong performance in first round victory with 29pts.  The comes as no surprise, she has been getting buckets all season.  Athletic, 5’9, point guard with deep range on her shot.  She can score in a variety of ways, match-up nightmare with her ability to shoot, handle the ball and finish through contact. [player_tooltip player_id="188348" first="Reina" last="Washington"]-2022-Woodbridge Contributed 13pts, 4 steals, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.  Reina has a nice 3pt shot, she knocked down open 3s, has good court awareness and knows when to get the ball to teammates in scoring position.  Her defense was on point this game, hard worker who moves her feet well and applies pressure without fouling.  She doesn't reach and keeps players in front of her.  Tough athlete who wasn't afraid to battle with bigs for rebounds and caused a few jump balls.  She is a hustler who does the little things that don't show up in the stat sheet. Two sport athlete, you can find her on the softball field next year for Virginia State University. [player_tooltip player_id="300374" first="Nylah" last="Wilson"]-2025-Thomas Dale Nylah played a smart, well balanced game.  First half, she took her shots within the flow of the offense and got her teammates involved.  Her defense was intense, several times she snatched the ball from opponents or poked the ball away and finished fast break layups.  In the second half, she took over offensively scoring ten straight points to take the lead for her team.  She was locked in defensively the entire game and her energy was contagious.
