SCISA Story Lines

The SCISA State Tourney will start this coming Friday on the girl’s side. The tourney will conclude the following Saturday February 26 in Sumter with 3 State Championship Games at the Sumter Civic Center. Let’s take a look at some story lines we watch this postseason. <em><strong>4-Peat in the Works?</strong></em> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-360228" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/12/A2716F2A-CBA7-43EC-86EE-594603314273.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /> Could the Cardinal Newman Lady Cardinals and the Hilton Head Christian Lady Eagles both win a 4th straight State Title come next weekend? The Cardinals have played Northwood Academy in the past three Class 3A State Championship Games.<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="124089" first="Ashlyn" last="Watkins"]</strong> a McDonald’s All-American and a future University of South Carolina Lady Gamecock will try for her 4th straight title. <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-258575" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/02/C94F10BC-ACA5-49B7-8CA2-16A03341439D.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /> The Lady Eagles defeated Palmetto Christian Academy last season, Dorchester Academy (2020) and Spartanburg Christian (2019). The Lady Eagles have a (97-8) record since that according to my records. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="197052" first="Skylar" last="Smith"]</strong> a Minot State University (ND) (NCAA D2) signee will try for her 4th straight state championship. <em><strong>2,000 Points and Counting</strong> </em> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-363177" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/12/836F043F-A89D-4381-B1C2-7AE71728F90B.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="171756" first="Daja" last="Taylor"]</strong> helped Newberry Academy to a Class 1A State Title last season. Taylor a point guard has scored 2,261points in her high school career. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="124096" first="Tyra" last="Myers"]</strong> will head off to the Big Apple and play at St Francis College - Brooklyn next season. Myers recently went over 2,000 points and currently stands at 2,004 points for the Hammond Lady Skyhawks. <em><strong>One Last Go Around </strong></em> Several seniors will finish their careers this coming week in all 3 classifications. Just way too many girls to name and I don’t want to miss anyone. All will try to be standing come next Saturday February 26 in the Sumter Civic Center as champions. <em><strong>Who Will Take Class 1A? </strong></em> Newberry Academy Lady Eagles defeated Patrick Henry Academy last season to win the Class 1A State Championship. The Cathedral Academy Lady Generals could be the new team on the block this season. The Lady Generals have a (18-6) record with wins over Patrick Henry Academy 73-68 and Newberry Academy 43-40. The Lady Generals have a young squad but played a very competitive schedule this past season. The week of basketball starting this Friday will more than likely have several locations. Look for games in Columbia, Charleston, Orangeburg and Sumter. Only time will tell where everyone will be.
