Player of the Game:
Lauren Sabia Lauren Sabia 5'7" | CG Simsbury | 2023 State New E – Simsbury – 5’6’’ – PG – ’23
Offensively, Sabia had a typical game. An efficient 19 points, tough three-pointers, including one that beat the 1st quarter buzzer, and good ball security. The most impressive thing about Sabia’s game was her passing and court vision. She is a gifted passer and playmaker and showed great touch when feeding the Simsbury bigs. All her passes aren’t lazy, leading her teammates to the basket. Sabia is the engine that makes the 18-2 Simsbury team go, and when she is locked in how she was on Monday, the team will be hard to beat come tournament.
Simsbury Standouts:
Olivia Jarvis Olivia Jarvis 6'0" | PF Simsbury | 2024 State New E – 6’0’’ – PF – ’24
I had never seen Jarvis play before Monday night, and she was a force on both sides of the ball. She filled the stat sheet with 12 points, 13 rebounds, 7 blocks, and 5 assists. Her chemistry with Lauren Sabia Lauren Sabia 5'7" | CG Simsbury | 2023 State New E in the halfcourt was seamless, and they connected on multiple plays throughout the game. Jarvis has good hands, is a great finisher, and is a tremendous shot alterer on defense. Glastonbury had difficulty scoring in the paint over Jarvis’s long, athletic frame.
Faye Kaplinski Faye Kaplinski 5'10" | PF Simsbury | 2023 State New E – 6’0’’ – PF – ’23
Kaplinski was strong in the post and finished with 10 points, all coming from the paint. Glastonbury made a couple of runs in the second half, and Kaplinski was the one who killed their momentum with tough back-to-the-basket play. Kaplinski has been playing like this throughout the year. Every game, she will protect the paint and put up double-digit points and rebounds.
