Much like the greats Larry Bird, Scotty Pippen, LeBron James and Kevin Durant the Small Forward spot in basketball is such a pivotal, versatile spot that let’s players roam freely from restrictions of just being a paint beast or a perimeter guard, but in actuality combines both characteristics of play to create a phenomenal basketball player. Let’s take a look in today’s article at some of the most talented Small Forwards in the state of North Dakota.
Ava WildAvaWild
6'0" | SF Fargo Davies | 2022StateND
– Fargo Davies – (6’/SF/2022) – Ava makes the right play at the right time. She’s a post at heart that can play inside or out. Ava has incredible defense and athleticism that set her apart from others. She has above average footwork that she showcases within the high and low post. Wild is such an extraordinary defender that can guard 1-5 on any given night. You can tell she has phenomenal work ethic as she never gives up on a play and always strives to better herself and teammates.
Lorelei MciverLoreleiMciver
6'0" | SF Glenburn | 2022StateND
– Glenburn – (6’/SF/2022) – Mciver in my biased opinion has to be one of the most elite on ball and help side defenders in the state. Along with Ava WildAvaWild
6'0" | SF Fargo Davies | 2022StateND
she has such great length and versatility on the defensive side of the court that she reeks absolute havoc for offensive players. Mciver applies such great on ball pressure that occasionally gets the offense to cough up the ball into her hands in which she capitalizes on in transitional points. Lorelie is another defender that can guard 1-5 and run the court like buck in the wild during hunting season.
Grace KellyGraceKelly
6'1" | SF Shiloh Christian | 2022StateND – Shiloh Christian – (6’1/SF/2022) – A guard and a big, Kelly possesses the best of both worlds. She can play back to the basket bully ball style or rip and go from the wing or high post. She has phenomenal court awareness and is so offensively fluent around the hoop. What sets Kelly apart from the other Small Forwards on this list is that she has the most sound jump shot out of all these prospects. Her mid-range game is unmatched and you have to play her straight up without sagging off or it’ll be a long night as a defender.
Anthonett NabweAnthonettNabwe
5'9" | SF Jamestown | 2022StateND
– Jamestown – (5’10/SF/2022) – The returning scorer for jamestown and reigning rebounding champ from the WDA Annie has made herself a household name for sure within the last 3 seasons. She’s mobile, quick first step, tough and strong within the post and an unmovable force to be reckon with. Nabwe plays with so much passion and love for the game that she really get’s after the basketball. She’s the type of player that will take a charge and ask for another one the next play. Loose balls… It’s hers… Rebounds… She’s already grabbed and put backs it’s already in the net. What a career Nabwe has had for Jamestown.
Grace MillerGraceMiller
5'10" | SF Fargo North | 2022StateND
– Fargo North – (5’10/SF/2022) – The only lefty on our list, but watch out as Miller has a lot of bite to her game. She can shoot and has one explosive first step that get’s her around less mobile defenders. She can guard 2-5 and is such a versatile athlete. For post who aren’t use to guarding lefties you are in for one hell of a treat guarding Miller who loves to go right and hit defenders with a smooth step back finish.
