Okay, I'm getting emails and text messages as well as DM's about teams I haven't seen, I get it however if someone other than De Soto or Duncanville wins the State Championship in 6A I will be totally surprised so let me roam around the regions and after double checking my ancestry.com, I am definitely all over the place with these predictions so let me start like this
Region 1
Southlake Carroll vs South Grand Prairie
I know nothing about Southlake Carroll period, well except for one exclamation point, freshman [player_tooltip player_id="307753" first="Milania" last="Jordan"]-5'10 CG currently #16 yet expect a huge jump when I actually see her again but she's an explosive scorer, off the dribble and off the ground because the jumper is sweet and consistent
South Grand Prairie has quite a few players I'm familiar with, seniors [player_tooltip player_id="135374" first="Jahcelyn" last="Hartfield"] and [player_tooltip player_id="202485" first="Victoria" last="Dixon"] are both in the Top 100 as well as recently added [player_tooltip player_id="388150" first="Adhel" last="Tac"]-6'4 C sophomore who is showing signs of being a dominant force on the inside as well as another new addition, freshman [player_tooltip player_id="385706" first="Taylor" last="Barnes"]-5'11 SG who is showing signs of being dominant period
LD Bell vs Braswell
Bell used to ring out loud when I caught the Gordon sisters yet FLASH forward, did you catch that "no look", probably not but other than Top 100 [player_tooltip player_id="135382" first="Hallie" last="Rhodes"] and sister Jayden Rhodes, both seniors, I know absolutely nothing about this squad
Braswell left a lasting impression and is filled with Top 100 players, [player_tooltip player_id="202477" first="Jazmyne" last="Jackson"] (Grambling) and [player_tooltip player_id="135370" first="Alisa" last="Williams"] (LSU) are trying to end their high school career with a bang and head to San Antonio for the STATE FINAL 4 and with the supporting cast, for this region they have to be in driver's seat because [player_tooltip player_id="158866" first="Kennedy" last="Evans"], didn't I call the sophomore a #D1Lock in the 6th grade, yes I did and the sophomore has range from another dimension yet I just added [player_tooltip player_id="391609" first="Torie" last="Sevier"]-6'4 JR, to the list at #42 so this is my pick to represent R1
Region 2
Desoto and Duncanville will advance to the Regional Finals and play each other to see who represents R2, no crystal ball is needed, and as much as I love upsets, I don't see that happening. These teams have won the last two State Championships, Desoto is going for back to back however I picked them in the preseason to win it all, [player_tooltip player_id="65913" first="Michayla" last="Gatewood"] (Texas Tech) is out with an injury so toss-up
Region 3
Summer Creek was my preseason favorite to win the region, primarily because of Kaitlyn Duhon (Auburn) who will be added next week and make her DEBUT in the Top, well wait and see and sharpshooter Mia Thomas (Hill College) yet the countless guards that can apply pressure is key, so is the progression from 6'2 C [player_tooltip player_id="134042" first="Jorynn" last="Ross"] who is controlling the paint
Dulles has enough ballhandlers to handle the heat which SC, my initials, is going to throw at them. Seniors [player_tooltip player_id="135361" first="Nya" last="Threatt"] and [player_tooltip player_id="135364" first="Peyton" last="Overton"] were called #D1Locks before their first middle school game, and they, along with another talented senior, [player_tooltip player_id="135373" first="Maurdaisha" last="Powell"] "Dai Dai" could actually pull off the upset if they're on early and when you factor in sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="270658" first="Taylor" last="Gerard"] bringing it from off the bench, I am going to enjoy this one
Seven Lakes [player_tooltip player_id="158862" first="Justice" last="Carlton"] is definitely looking like she'll move into that #1 slot for 2023 as she dropped another 40 plus game to help them get here and the great thing about her supporting cast is that they play within themselves and understand their roles yet the inside battle for this game has me antsy
Pearland got here for a number of reasons, [player_tooltip player_id="314168" first="Aryelle" last="Stevens"] is one of the top UNSIGNED players in the state, the PORTAL and lying club coaches, directors, and trainers have played a huge part in why this is messed up, well so have college coaches for continuously believing them but BELIEVE THIS she and [player_tooltip player_id="96125" first="RyLee" last="Grays"] form an admirable Twin Towers to try and contain Carlton or slow her down so this too is a toss-up, the game, SC has my initials so...
Region 4
Clark lost to Duncanville by 6, okay who else do I choose, especially when I haven't seen all the teams other than one. Senior Hailey Adams is on the list to be added to the Top 100, Deannasty Smith is an unbelievable athlete as the senior made my Breakout Player list from the Adidas Gauntlet with junior Ramsey Robledo but those Top 100 sisters, senior [player_tooltip player_id="202486" first="Aaliyah" last="Roberson"], and just added sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="388151" first="Arianna" last="Roberson"] are both around 6'3
Harlan's roster won't pull up on Max Preps, got that dreaded 404 yet for the 411 I did what I tell people to do all the time, USE THE SEARCH BAR, and voila, senior Vivia Vella pulled up in an article, someone told me on Twitter to watch out for them so we'll see
Steele has one of the best mid-range shooters in Sidney Love (Seattle) and the senior has a solid supporting cast around her which include 6'1 sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="388159" first="Lena" last="Newby"] who I just added recently to the Top 100 plus heat from many spots
Brennan has a Top 100 player in [player_tooltip player_id="314166" first="Jillian" last="Torres"] and the senior is also their leading scorer yet how about sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="309648" first="Taylor" last="Ross"] who is close to averaging a double-double but peep this, junior Elyse Sellers is long and athletic, that's the base and looking at the roster it's filled with San Antonio Lady Hoops stars that I have been watching forever
