Prep Girls Hoops Missouri takes a look at the top Class of 2022 guards from last weekend’s Webster Winter Classic. The final day featured four heavyweight programs as Incarnate Word defeated Webster Groves in the championship game with Rock Bridge taking third place with a victory over Cardinal Ritter.
[player_tooltip player_id="162388" first="Saniah" last="Tyler"] (Incarnate Word): The 5’7" Kentucky recruit was selected the Most Valuable Player of the tournament after leading the Red Knights to the championship. She scored 20 points in the championship game while playing a dominant floor game. She started off the game with consecutive 3-pointers to get the Red Knights rolling. She also hit pull up jumpers and displayed her excellent court vision.
[player_tooltip player_id="107958" first="Averi" last="Kroenke"] (Rock Bridge): The 5’11 Mizzou recruit had a dominant performance in the victory over Cardinal Ritter in the third place game. She scored a game-high 25 points, but her floor game was also stellar as she rebounded, played defense and set up teammates with her passing.
[player_tooltip player_id="234576" first="Ellie" last="Paloucek"] (Webster Groves): The 5’6 guard scored 12 points in the championship game. She really owned the mid-range area as she made one pull up jumper after another.
Mariah Maxie (Cardinal Ritter): The 5’6 combo guard is an excellent two-way guard with her speed and quickness. She has also been a capable 3-point shooter. She made two triples in the third place game.
Jenna Clark (Webster Groves): The 5’9 guard earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team, mainly on the strength of her 18 point performance in the victory over undefeated Rock Bridge in the semifinals. She made a game-high six 3-pointers in the game.
[player_tooltip player_id="252304" first="Christina" last="Maltsberger"] (Rock Bridge): The 5’8 guard made a trio of 3-pointers in the victory over Cardinal Ritter. She really understands her assignment as she consistently keeps the floor spread with her perimeter shooting.
