I see 5 close games this round possibly. 64 Teams start out in this class. As the Iowa classes get bigger there are fewer teams so fewer rounds to get thru in the upper classes. Two possible upsets are West Delaware vs. Centerpoint Urbana. Freshman Brooke Krogman looks to stay hot and lead her girls. Centerville vs. Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. EBF looks for a lift from their upcoming freshman duo, Ava Eastlick and Molly Shafer. The Key to the rocket’s upset will be turnovers. They must keep theirs down and create a lot.
Close games. Wahlert Catholic vs. Vinton Schellsburg. Des Moines Christian vs. Harlan looks to be entertaining if the ball bounces right for each team.
Other first-round players to look for that made waves and look to continue that and help their squad. Katy Reyerson Katy Reyerson 6'2" | PF West Marshall | 2023 State IA – Junior – West Marshall – Her veteran leadership is key. Strong all-around player who gets buckets at a high clip. Put up 33 in the first round.
Mackenzie Snook- Sophomore – Chariton – Snatched 16 rebounds in the first round. This impressive sophomore could be the difference to controlling the paint
Alexis Pingel Alexis Pingel 5'7" | SG Cherokee | 2022 State IA – Senior – Cherokee Washington – Put up a solid 22 points in game 1. Could be the spark needed if she can score well again.
Gracie Shoonhoven – Junior – Unity Christian – Dropped 23 points and had 8 assists in a solid first round win. If she can keep the balance again they will advance.
Hylee Stokes – Freshman – Estherville Lincoln Center – Dropped 20 in her opening playoff game. The freshman needs to step up for her team to be able to stay alive and complete a strong freshman campaign.
Leah Doran – Senior – Chariton – Hit 6 threes in the first round. Look for another strong shooting performance for the senior to stay alive and keep her high school career going for a few more games.
