Since UIL Conferences 2A, 4A and 6A played on day 2, a rhyme popped into my head from my school days and it was a cheer, 2,4, 6, 8, who do we appreciate and no, I was not a cheerleader and I’m still not, I’m an evaluator so watching certain things on yesterday while babysitting granddaughter later last night< I had a blast with the last game that kept me up past my bedtime so, 2, 4 and 6, here are at least EIGHT
[player_tooltip player_id="65906" first="Ashlon" last="Jackson"] (Hardin Jefferson) 2022
Jackson put her team on her back, from the start until the finish and her poise and mental toughness just stood out as she came up with big bucket after big bucket, under pressure, to help her team seal a trip to the championship
[player_tooltip player_id="96915" first="Jamia" last="Harris"] (Desoto) 2022
Harris was smooth under pressure, she chose her shots wisely and dropped 13, in the flow and to help stop runs, well to start runs for her team as well
[player_tooltip player_id="96916" first="Jiya" last="Perry"] (Desoto) 2022
Perry did her double-double thing as she just was not willing to let it end like it started so her 15/13 plus tough defense played a huge part in their victory
Speaking of DEFENSE seniors [player_tooltip player_id="135360" first="Tionna" last="Herron"] [player_tooltip player_id="65910" first="Amina" last="Muhammad"] and [player_tooltip player_id="65914" first="Sa’Myah" last="Smith"] and [player_tooltip player_id="65912" first="Ayanna" last="Thompson"] all were huge in that department. Herron was blocking shots, she also made back to back basket down the stretch yet watching Muhammad play the passing lane and attack going the length of the court just did it for me, I love watching players play the passing lane, and speaking of lanes, Smith did a good job of controlling the lane as well as rebounding while Thompson and her "on the ball" pressure definitely was huge
[player_tooltip player_id="395740" first="Hailey" last="Adams"] (Clark) 2022
Adams is known for knocking down big shots under pressure and this was definitely pressure as she created her shot and dropped it
[player_tooltip player_id="202486" first="Aaliyah" last="Roberson"] (Clark) 2022
Roberson was solid, on both ends and her rebounding and scoring was huge all game, so was her defense both inside and outside the paint
[player_tooltip player_id="135374" first="Jahcelyn" last="Hartfield"] (South Grand Prairie)
Hartfield created her shot so beautifully that I kept rewinding it because in the set she was doing some damage, well the stop and pop in transition wasn’t bad either
Madi Lumsden-5’8 SG (Argyle) 2023
Lumsden was written about by another Texas court a few months ago, he mentioned she could create her shot and knock it down under pressure consistently, yes she did, use the search bar to find loads of useful information
Ramsey Robledo-5’10 SG (Clark) 2023
Robledo opened it up with back to back three pointers, I yelled ROBLEDO after the second and my 6-month-old granddaughter looked at me strangely as were watching the game on my IPAD so I go to the kitchen to get a glass of water, come back to the room and my granddaughter looked at me and said ROBLEDO, yep she had drooped her 3rd yet she also showed me enough to be added to the next Top 100 update
[player_tooltip player_id="388150" first="Adhel" last="Tac"] (South Grand Prairie) 2024
Tac had my phone buzzing asking "who is that" well I think a lot of people caught her inside dominance yet she’s "long and athletic" with excellent timing but her athleticism also enabled her to score multiple ways around the basket
[player_tooltip player_id="388151" first="Arianna" last="Roberson"] (Clark) 2024
Roberson keeps turning it up and as the progression continues, she’s definitely showing signs of being able to control games, on both ends of the court, oh yeah, she’s long and athletic
Natalie Huff (Clark) 2024
Huff was solid and a thorn because she came up with so many clutch plays, not just baskets, plays that helped keep her team in striking distance
