GHSA State Playoffs: Top Guards Pt. 3
I traveled long and far across the entire state of Georgia from the North to the South, East to West to see some of the most intriguing matchups throughout the state tournament. Now that I can finally catch my breath, here are some of the top performers I saw over the past month of the GHSA State Playoffs.
2025 5-6 PG [player_tooltip player_id="302914" first="Tatum" last="Brown"] – Grayson
Freshman of the Year in Class 7A makes plays off the bounce. Splits traps and keeps her head up. Has a soft floater in traffic. Works ball screens well. Can drive and kick to open shooters. Sneaky good rebounder for her size. Must be guarded behind three-point line.
2022 5-8 G [player_tooltip player_id="305892" first="Catherine" last="Alben"] – Grayson
Athletic and aggressive guard. Had a huge game vs. North Forsyth in Sweet 16 with 22 points drilling four threes. High motor on both ends of the floor. Great in transition. Likes to slash to the hoop. Difficult to stop when her outside shot is falling. Charleston Southern-signee.
2022 5-7 PG [player_tooltip player_id="118145" first="Kaleigh" last="Addie"] – GAC
Xavier-signee carries the load on offense. 21 points in the Final 4 and 16 in the State Championship. Known for her one-on-one scoring ability. Quick hands on defense. Can handle pressure and create for others.
2022 5-7 CG [player_tooltip player_id="210364" first="Jaci" last="Bolden"] – GAC
Had a great run in the postseason. Uses her speed and quickness to cause turnovers and score in transition. Reliable perimeter scorer. Adding muscle in college will give her an even higher ceiling to reach.
2022 5-8 PG [player_tooltip player_id="305891" first="Natalie" last="Herrin"] – Pierce County
Physical 2,000-point scorer that loves to attack the rim and shoot the pull-up jumper. Scores through contact. Aggressive defender. Uses her strength to her advantage. Just picked up Presbyterian offer.
2022 5-8 PG [player_tooltip player_id="195844" first="Alisha" last="Foster"] - Harrison
Steady guard that fills up the stat sheet. Rebounds well and is a primary ball handler vs. pressure. Hits the open three but also likes to get into the paint and breakdown the defense.
