Continue ReadingThe South Dakota 2025 class is very guard-heavy, in terms of the top prospects in the state. I don’t see D1 talent written all over it like the SD 2024 class, but this 2025 class has some talented and skilled guards that are fun to watch and evaluate. With this class, many more prospects will be discovered and there will be drastic movement as we get to know the class a little more closely.
#1 Brooke Jensen Brooke Jensen 6'0" | SF Vermillion | 2025 State SD – 6’0 wing 2025 – Vermilion – Brooke is high-energy and gives full effort. She’s a strong and athletic wing/forward, that plays fast and relentlessly. Sometimes erratic from three but she’ll hit them too. Plays hard on defense and is attentive in her positioning. This is not a perfect class, as the #1 prospect needs some skill refinement, as a handler of the ball and spot-up shooter. But Brooke has the strong frame and build to keep her footings as the #1 prospect.
#2 Reagan Rus Reagan Rus 5'9" | SG Mt. Vernon | 2025 State SD – 5’9 G 2025 – Mt.Vernon/Plankinton – Reagan comes in at #2 because she’s one of the longer/bigger guards in the class. I see some good upside with her and she’s nowhere near a finished product yet. A slasher/playmaking wing. Loves to attack the hoop and is a strong finisher when she gets there. A defender with length that will pressure and quick enough to sustain pressure.

. Plays the position to perfection, as the starter for AA Brookings. A strong and steady frame that doesn’t have standout length. What does standout is her handles, passing, and shooting stroke. Overall IQ and feel for the game is through the roof.
Kasey Hanson Kasey Hanson 5'8" | PG Vermillion | 2025 State SD – 5’8 PG 2025 – Vermilion – Kasey comes in at #4 as the second Vermilion 2025 prospect in the top 5. She’s the starting left-handed point guard for her team. A good handle on the ball and a smooth left-handed jump-shot. She’s highly accurate shooting the rock, but has a slower release coming from her left side of her hip. Finds a way to make steals on defense with her quick hands and anticipation.
Amanda Lease Amanda Lease 5'8" | PG Brandon Valley | 2025 State SD – 5’6 PG 2025 – Canton – Amanda is a high-producing scorer, especially for a 2025 prospect. Advanced for her age, scoring 18.1 ppg., in just her Freshman season. An athletic scorer that scores in all types of ways, especially in the lane. A strong and steady frame for a 2025 prospect, allowing her to move well and with ease and fluidity. If she develops a more accurate three-ball, she could become a top scorer in the state. Already has an elite floater game and ability to finish. On top of being an elite scorer, Amanda is a defensive playmaker and creates a ton of havoc on the opposing ball-handler. She will disrupt an offensive game-plan with her pressure and ability to make steals and deflections.
Sterling Brassfield Sterling Brassfield 5'7" | PG Britton-Hecla | 2025 State SD – 5’7 G 2025 – Britton-Hecla – Sterling is a high-level 2025 guard. Plays like a Senior and is confident and advanced with the ball. Her decision-making with the ball is top-notch. Controls pace and handles pressure. A smooth athlete rather than a twitchy athlete.
Isabella Anderson Isabella Anderson 5'7" | CG Milbank | 2025 State SD – 5’7 G 2025 – Milbank – Isabella is an attacking, aggressive, left-handed guard. Plays with good game-speed and has a good handle on the ball. She’s a starter and the team’s main ball-handler, that loves to utilize ball-screens and also create with the ball on her own. Aggressive from three and with getting in the lane to put up shots. A skilled passer that can thread it in for much-needed assists. Has some good upside with her length and athletic ability, that has room to grow. A frame that has length and looks like strength could easily be added. Plays with North Tartan and is a future college-level guard.
Tyra Berry Tyra Berry 5'5" | SG Milbank | 2025 State SD – 5’6 G 2025 – Milbank – Most people will keep an eye on Milbank to watch Isabella Anderson Isabella Anderson 5'7" | CG Milbank | 2025 State SD , but it’s hard to ignore and not mention Tyra as a prospect to know as well. Tyra is one of the other standout Freshman prospects for Milbank. A well-rounded prospect that has a defensive mentality. Plays with great defensive technique and when her defensive assignment possesses the ball, Tyra is laser-focused on that assignment, giving pressure and space to not foul. Handles, passes, and shoots the ball but doesn’t look to create too much on her own.
Keelie Kuil Keelie Kuil 5'8" | SG Winner | 2025 State SD – 5’8 G 2025 – Winner – Keelie is a guard that is in the Winner regular rotation. She has a slender frame but moves very well on the court, and at this stage in her career she used her movement skills to make defensive plays and create turnovers.
Ava Craven Ava Craven 6'0" | SF Winner | 2025 State SD – 5’11 F 2025 – Winner – Ava comes off the bench for Winner to play on the inside. She’s athletic, long, and runs very well. Seems slightly raw but her upside is hard to ignore. With constant devielopment from year to year, we could be looking at a legitimate prospect. Ava will be playing with the SD Attack 15U team this offseason.
Shelbie Olseth Shelbie Olseth 5'6" | SG Canton | 2025 State SD – 5’6 G 2025 – Canton – Shelbie is a really good guard that has supreme length for a 5’6 prospect. She looks to have the length of someone 5’9-5’10. A three-point threat and has a good overall skill-set. Can handle the ball, take care of it, and make the necessary passes.
Lennix Dupris Lennix Dupris 5'6" | PG Pierre | 2025 State SD – 5’5 PG 2025 – Pierre – Lennix is a true point guard that shoots with her left hand. She can control the ball and handle it well for a young guard. A facilitator and pressure reliever that will also shoot open jumpers.
Claire Woods Claire Woods 5'6" | CG Sioux Falls Washington | 2025 State SD – 5’6 G 2025 – Sioux Falls Washington – Claire receives varsity minutes and she’s an excellently on-ball, pressure defender. She moves extremely well laterally, with elite fluidity. Somewhat of a cornerback the way she moves.
Tyann Mortenson Tyann Mortenson 5'10" | PF Faith | 2025 State SD – 5’11 PF 2025 – Faith – TyAnn appeared in the state tournament for Faith and played well. She’s the future inside presence for Faith and will be heavily leaned on. In the state tournament, she averaged 11.7 ppg., along with 5.7 rpg. TyAnn possesses a good combination of finesse and power in her game. A solid finisher that is on-target near the hoop.
Claire Snaza Claire Snaza 6'0" | C Milbank | 2025 State SD – 6’0 C 2025 – Milbank – A finesse six-footer that runs extremely well. Most likely her playing aggression will improve with age and experience. Does a good job of walling-up on defense in the paint. Plays with high energy and movement but doesn’t through her body around or move her opponents. Her ability to run rim to rim and put pressure on a back-pedaling defense is elite. With steady development, Claire is a future college post player if she chooses to go that route.
Lesleen Makes Room For Them Lesleen Makes Room For Them 5'6" | CG Todd County | 2025 State SD – 5’6 G 2025 – Todd County – Lesleen is highly-skilled and smooth with the ball and her decision-making. Confident with the ball and doesn’t allow the defense to dictate her offensive game-plan. Could be more aggressive to score herself, but that should change with experience and expanded future role.
Julise Shaw Julise Shaw 5'7" | SG Vermillion | 2025 State SD – 5’7 G 2025 – Todd County – Julise is the other Freshman guard for Todd County that can play. She’s long for 5’7 and only has one speed – and that’s full-throttle. Can score the ball and uses her length on defense to disrupt offenses. Dangerous in transition, with speed and athleticism to finish.
