These ladies were all playing up in the highest division, so be on the lookout for them to have some rapid development over the next few years.
Jena Warden 2025 SETX Elite Blue (Silsbee High School)
Jena is an aggressive on ball defender who thrives in turning defense into offense with her scrappiness and active hands. She is great at trapping her opponent by using the sideline as a second defender, and plays with a real awareness on the defensive end of the court. It also makes her a dangerous weapon as a trapping defender in the full court. She is able to play this role well with her tenacity and willingness to cut off angles.
Her ability to run on the break and finish at the rim forces defenses to send a second defender any time she gets a step on her opponent. I was really impressed with her ability to finish with either hand at the rim, a real testament to the amount of time she has already spent in the gym. Warden was one of the best players on the Varsity level court and really stood out with her ability to do it all on both ends of the floor.
Olivia Mhoon 2025 Team Runovo Blue (Fort Bend Christian Academy)
Olivia is a real leader from the point guard position who showed to also be an active player off the ball, whose constant motion on the perimeter and along the wings allows her to consistently be an open option. I loved watching her keep her teammates heads up when something did not go their way, she seems to have all of the natural leader qualities you want from your point guard. She is great at operating out of the triple threat on the wings and corners, and uses her quickness to turn the corner and force a help defender to come over. She consistently made the right reads and made good dump off passes to her bigs that resulted in easy points in the paint and trips to the free throw line. She is good on the defensive end who plays the passing lanes well to tip away passes and deny entry passes into the post. She is good at denying her opponent any ability to catch a pass. I would like to see her work to operate from the top of the key and out of the pick and roll. I hope she is able to get more freedom within the offense over the next few years and I am intrigued to watch how she develops.
Christina Webb 2025 Team Runovo Blue (Centennial High School)
Christina is a sharp shooting guard who thrives in her ability to create space and get her shot off. She is a steady set shooter with a real ability to space the floor and knock down shots. She is a perfect third option for her team and she plays her role well. I would like to see her continue to develop with her handle and become a more dynamic player as she gets downhill.
She is an aggressive on ball defender who thrives in getting her hand in and poking the ball free as it is coming back up. I was impressed with her tenacity and ability to play in the passing lanes as well, she really made her mark on the game by taking away full court passes on the defensive end of the floor. I was very impressed by the way Webb controlled herself playing up at this level, she did not seemed to ever be overwhelmed by bigger and older defenders.
