Each class started with 16 teams and battled down to their final two. We will cover the players that stepped up on the biggest stage and fought for a chance to be a state champion. [player_tooltip player_id="276503" first="Britt" last="Prince"] | Elkhorn North | So | Guard Britt proved, once again, why she is one of the most sought after prospects in the state. Unlike their battle in the subdistrict final, the Wolves were in control for most of the game. Prince stuffed the stat sheet scoring 21 points while dishing out seven assists, grabbing six rebounds and nabbing two steals. She shot just under .500 from the field but was perfect from the free throw line, hitting all four attempts. Prince constantly puts pressure on opposing defenses with her penetration but can shoot with range, knocking down three 3-pointers in the game. Prince has two championships in her first two years in high school and it is safe to say that she makes the Wolves a favorite for a third. https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/britt-prince/tPAm7DAxEeuAzqREozo6lw/default.htm [player_tooltip player_id="94501" first="Taylor" last="McCabe"] | Fremont | Sr | Guard The Iowa commit was the best player on the court in the Class A championship game. She scored a game high 16 points, grabbed four rebounds and added two steals. Lincoln Southwest made it tough for McCabe, holding her for a 2 of 7 day from beyond the 3-point arc, however McCabe stepped up when the Tigers needed her. After going down 19-16 early in the third quarter, McCabe had a 7-0 run herself to put Fremont in the driver seat. The attention that McCabe attracts is an offensive weapon in itself as it puts her teammates in favorable positions to score. https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/taylor-mccabe/kB75A-olEeiAxKkkK9HIDg/default.htm [player_tooltip player_id="279310" first="Peyton" last="McCabe"] | Omaha Skutt | So | Guard After struggling a little from the field in the first half, McCabe showed she is one of the top players in Class B. She scored eight of her team high 13 points in the second half in an effort to close the gap with Elkhorn North but the lead proved to be insurmountable. McCabe is a terrific shooter but had trouble getting them to fall during the championship. She did all of her damage inside the three point arc with multiple layups and 15 foot jumpers. McCabe will lead the Skyhawks to another great year in 2022-23 and will be hungry for revenge on the Wolves. https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/peyton-mccabe/T0eJ_NXO0kCICJmMjFq9sw/default.htm [player_tooltip player_id="174467" first="Freddie" last="Wallace"] | Lincoln Southwest | Sr | Forward Wallace was limited due to some foul trouble, only playing 18 minutes in the game. However, it was apparent early that Wallace was a matchup problem for the Tigers. She scored seven of her team high nine points in the first half and pulled down four rebounds in the game before being limited in the second half. Wallace has excellent post footwork and seems to have a knack for being in the right place for rebounds and loose balls. Her length creates issues for defenders both offensively and defensively. Wallace could be a steal for a school looking for length and interior play. https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/freddie-wallace/BPHiNhC9EeqAzqREozo6lw/default.htm
