Let’s look at some of the newcomers cracking the ’24 rankings for the first time.

[player_tooltip player_id="280912" first="Phoena" last="Dadson"]| Kent | 5’10’’| CG
Dadson’s elite athleticism allows her to be one of the most versatile guards in the class. She will defend multiple positions and engulfs her opponent with her long wingspan. Dadson’s excellent on help-side defense and has good recovery speed resulting in loud rejections and intercepted passes. Dadson is also a very good and accurate passer. She sees the floor well, always hits her teammates in stride, and leads them to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="282849" first="Valeria" last="Santiago"]| Holderness| 5’4’’| PG
This past winter, Santiago led Holderness in scoring and was named a NEPSAC All-Star. What separates Santiago from many point guards is her size and that she can shoot the lights out. She is crafty in getting to the basket and knows how to consistently get her shot off over the defense despite her size. Santiago is also a good rebounding point guard who averaged over 5 a game for her team.

[player_tooltip player_id="408689" first="Ella" last="Chandler"]| Wilbraham & Monson| 6’0’’| PG
Chandler is a prospect I am eager to watch more of this spring and summer. At 6’0’’, it is hard to ignore Chandler’s physical presence on the court, and she also is a good outside shooter who can snipe over the top of the defense. She keeps the ball on a string, protects it well when pressured, and sets up her teammates with great passes. Chandler also has the size, athleticism, and versatility to defend multiple positions.

[player_tooltip player_id="393017" first="Eleanor" last="Girardet"]| John Stark |6’2’’| PF
Girardet had a huge season at John Stark and was a walking double-double throughout the year. The stat-stuffing combo forward was selected to the NHIAA D2 All-State team and could not be stopped around the basket. The lefty big is good with her back to the basket and has confidence handling the ball in the open court. Girardet can stretch the floor to the three-point line as well. After watching Girardet last weekend at the New England Showdown, she should be a player who will move up this list this spring/summer.

[player_tooltip player_id="371743" first="Catherine" last="Sollose"]| Brookfield| 5’8’’| SF
I saw Sollose participate in the Hoop Mountain Spring Showcase and liked how she used her size on the glass. She is not the tallest wing but makes up for it with upper body strength, and she was very physical at the event. In transition, Sollose was valuable, and she ran the floor hard for easy fast break points. She carried that same high level of play when I saw her at the CT Starters practice where she was one of the teams top standouts from that night. Sollose can rise significantly up this list considering how she looked over the past couple of weeks.
