The updated 2023 Rankings were posted this past Wednesday. There was several players added to the rankings and this article will mention the top new additions from this past season.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="391172" first="Kathleen" last="Obisike"]- 5’9 Forward/Center "Hope Christian" Class of 2023 (#2PGHNM)</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="391172" first="Kathleen" last="Obisike"] had a solid 2021-22 campaign for Hope Christian. She led Hope Christian to the 4A State Tournament as the #8 seed. <strong>Kathleen</strong> led the team in scoring averaging 21.3 points per game and was the 4th leading scorer in New Mexico this year. She averaged a double-double with 16.4 rebounds per game. [player_tooltip player_id="391172" first="Kathleen" last="Obisike"] is one of the best post players in New Mexico.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="391173" first="Alyce" last="Apachito"]- 5’11 Center "To’hajiilee" Class of 2023 (#3PGHNM)</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="391173" first="Alyce" last="Apachito"] played a significant role in To’hajiilee’s success this season. Alyce led To’hajiilee in scoring averaging 15.1 points per game and she was the 16th leading scorer in New Mexico this past season. Her consistent play helped To’hajiilee reach the 1A Semifinals in the State Tournament. <strong>Alyce</strong> was one of the most consistent scorers in the state with six 20-point games this year. <strong>Alyce</strong> had a season high of 27 points vs Evangel Christian Academy on February 15th.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="391174" first="Alyssa" last="Vigil"]- 5’8 Small Forward "Hope Christian" Class of 2023 (#4PGHNM)</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="391174" first="Alyssa" last="Vigil"] had a solid junior year for Hope Christian this past season. She was Hope Christian’s second leading scorer this year averaging 15.9 points per game this season. <strong>Alyssa</strong> was the 11th leading scorer in New Mexico this year. Her play helped Hope Christian finish with a 17-13 record this season and clinch a spot in the 4A State Tournament this year. <strong>Alyssa</strong> was also the second leading rebounder for Hope Grabbing 6.0 boards per game. She was also a solid defender racking up 2.7 steals per game.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="391175" first="Alexus" last="Lafferty"]- 5’4 Guard "Tucumcari" Class of 2023 (#5PGHNM)</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="391175" first="Alexus" last="Lafferty"] led Tucumcari to the 3A State Tournament. They went 13-11 this season and secured the 12th seed in the Tournament. <strong>Alexus</strong> led Tucumcari in scoring this year and averaged 15.5 points per game which made her the 12th leading scorer in New Mexico. She had four 20-point games this season and was one of the states best three-point shooters. <strong>Alexus</strong> made 63 three-pointers this season which was the 7th most in the state. <strong>Alexus</strong> is easily one of the top players of the 2023 Class.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="391177" first="Amarissa" last="Quintana"]- 5’6 Shooting Guard "Mesa Vista" Class of 2023 (#14PGHNM)</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="391177" first="Amarissa" last="Quintana"] had a successful junior year campaign for Mesa Vista this year. She was the teams second leading scorer averaging 12.7 points per game this season. They finished 19-9 this season and secured the #10 seed in the 2A State Tournament. They made it to the 2A Quarterfinals after upsetting #7 Santa Rosa in the first round. <strong>Amarissa</strong> was a consistent scorer this season scoring in double-digits in 25 of the 28 games she played in this year. She is a player to keep your eyes on for her senior year next year.
