Cucuta lived up to her top 15 ranking by seamlessly fitting in with the older players at the showcase. Her wingspan and athleticism made her a force on defense in transition as she was constantly tipping and intercepting passes. I also liked how she was one of the first players back on defense after a missed shot. Cucuta’s hustle, effort, and motor were on full display. Cucuta passed the ball well also. She made crisp and accurate passes that had good velocity behind them.
G: Sabrina Lawless Sabrina Lawless 5'7" | PG Jonathan Law | 2023 State NewE | Jonathan Law| 5’9’’| ’23
Lawless stood out immediately because she crashed the glass every time a shot went up. After securing the rebound, Lawless ignited the break with a hard push up the court showcasing her tight ball handling. I liked how Lawless controls the pace and her decision-making in the open court. She is quick and crafty with the ball and has a good finishing package, including an automatic floater.
F: Khaya Skene Khaya Skene 5'10" | SF Ethel Walker | 2023 State NewE | Ethel Walker | 5’10| ’23
Skene’s skill set at the forward position is extremely valuable. She has good size and strength to play both the 3 and 4, is a dependable catch and shoot prospect from mid-long range, and rebounds well. Skene also can push the ball in transition and has the confidence to attack her defenders off the dribble. Skene drives with power and can play through contact.
F: Nevaeh Clark Nevaeh Clark 5'7" | CG Cromwell | 2023 State NewE | Cromwell | 5’9’’| ’23
Clark is a big guard, but she can slide over to the small or power forward and be impactful because of her strength and rebounding prowess. I thought she was a monster on the glass and secured extra possessions for her team. I thought she did a good job showing another dimension of her game that wasn’t scoring. I know how dangerous Clark can be when she asserts herself offensively but seeing her impact in other game phases elevated her stock.
C: Ileana Feliz Ileana Feliz 6'0" | PF New Milford | 2024 NewE | New Milford |6’0’’|’24
Feliz gave her opposition fits in the paint, and she either got a layup or foul call when catching the ball deep in the post. She powered up through defenders and initiated contact consistently. Feliz also would get great rebounding position on most possessions, which led to second-chance opportunities. I liked Feliz’s discipline in the block and how she continuously tried to win the battle on the block against whoever was guarding her.
