This entire month Bela has been displaying that smooth 3-level scoring technique that she’s known. She also is a key factor in having her team in prime position to contend. Bela finds herself with the upper hand the majority of times and there really aren’t many weaknesses. Cucuta’s most recent performances can’t go unmentioned. The Tilton star put up five 3s vs Brewster, six 3s vs New Hampton, five 3s vs Dexter Southfield as well as four 3s against Newman. This output illustrates just what type of run she’s been on.

Committed to George Washington, Bela delivered a statement performance as Tilton took down Rivers, finishing with 26 points and six made threes. She shoots the ball with deep confidence from beyond the arc, even with defenders closing hard. Bela does a great job of staying patient, getting defenders off balance before knocking down pull-ups in the midrange, and she is also a strong finisher when attacking the basket.

Bela’s 26 pts against Rivers came in marvelous fashion. She was running off screens, involved in dho actions and never hesitated as she confidently pulled up in transition. Cucuta put the pressure on the defense the whole game. She was absolutely cutthroat plus Bela never seemed unruffled. The defense didn’t show enough to be able to shake the assertive scorer. Cucuta has always been a pleasure to watch and her last performance was no different.

Off the back of Bela’s spectacular performance, Iona offered her. The dynamic guard is one of the best combo scoring guards around. A real bucket seeker that demands serious defensive attention.

It was pleasant to see Cucuta in action again, especially considering the high-level of competition she was facing this weekend. Bela was regularly looking like one of the best players on the floor throughout this tournament’s play. Bela is an innate creator with the ball in her hands. She uses screens to her advantage and will drag the mismatch out to exploit the mistakes or miscommunications from the defense. Her shot off the dribble must be mentioned too. Bela stops on a dime with players having a hard time recovering from the instant change of speed. The lift on her shot allows her to rise over taller defenders to get the shot to a point that’s out of reach. Her ability to hit tough shots is spectacular.

Bela provided outstanding shooting through various scenarios, pin-downs and even more impressively, in an incredibly hostile environment. Cucuta hit a couple shots that seized the momentum. She led Tilton into the stretch, but ultimately took a loss. Currently Tilton is 9-3 and a big part of that is because of Bela’s offensive potency.
Over the last few games Bela has been fairly hot, shooting a high volume of quality looks and making them as well. She’s looked more comfortable with the ball in her hands as time goes on. Tilton is a scary sight to face with a player like Cucuta catching steam.

Bela’s assertiveness is a distinctive quality to her game. She came out the gates swinging and her persistence being a shot-maker paid off. Cucuta found her shot after getting clean looks moving without the ball and then she transitioned to hitting some off the dribble. She got to the lane too, which opened things up for other shooters. Bela’s tendency to hit big shots made her essential for Tilton.

Player Comparison: Taina Mair
Cucuta has a ton of Mair’s game in hers. Bela has a very tight handle and elite playmaking skills, mixed with elite off the dribble shooting ability. Cucuta sports a very similar swagger in isolation situations and doesn’t shy away from having the ball in pressure situations, just like Mair. The similarities are very apparent when watching Bela’s facilitating prowess. She uses every option in the pick & roll while always remaining a scoring threat. Bela can slide to the off-ball position to knock don shots swung to her in the offense. The no-look dump off passes and flashy one-hand look-away passes are very reminiscent of Taina Mair.
Bela has been on a tear lately posting big displays of dominance at Spooky Nook and at the NEPSAC Scholar Showcase. Bela is expected to step in a role this year at Tilton that requires her to put her full set of offensive skills on display with star player Nay Admas leaving for Miami. Tilton has one of the most exciting girls to watch in New England.
