Just playing with some things in my head and I was thinking about watching some games where players came made an impact, sometimes immediately to change the momentum of that particular game
Shyrese Laskey-5’2 PG (Edmond Memorial HS) Team Griffin 2024 Funderbunk [2024]
Laskey showed explosiveness off the dribble and watching her finish strongly after contact definitely got my adrenaline going and when she added the pull-up jumper, with a hand in her face, I just smiled however her ability to create her shot for that jumper or attack the rim was somehow overshadowed when she did the “spin” in transition for a basket
Leah Bradley-5’6 G (Newcastle HS) Oklahoma Aces 2024 Vick [2024]
Bradley creates her shot well under pressure and knocks it down yet her quick release and dropping down with accuracy sort of created some issues for the defender, well not sort of, it did. She also understands how to drop it coming off the screen but her midrange was nice, so was the long ball
Jochrisna Shelton-5’6 G (Northwood HS LA) O.W.E. Family Renegades 2024 [2024]
Shelton created her shot and got to her spot to drop the jumper and I mean a legitimate jumper because she elevates over the defender, the shot is fluid, nice release and she definitely created a spark for her team several times. In addition, she did a good job of mixing it up to attack and score or dish
Reese Hodge-5’5 G (Sace HS) AE Red 2024 [2024]
Hodge wears #24 which was my favorite free series on television yet she does something I say I love to see over and over and that’s “play the passing lane”, a lost art, and let me drop the #THROWBACK but she also sets the defender up nicely with a deceptive first step to attack the basket and finish after contact
Sarai Givens-5’7 G (Little Elm) Team Stay Ready 2024 [2024]
Givens was GIVING the defender something to think about because she can drop the long ball yet by playing her too tightly, you open the door for her to attack the basket and with her court vision, she was able to hit teammates or just keep it and attack the basket but her poise under pressure also stood out
Mattie Dollar-5’8 G (Anson HS) Team Platinum 2024 Bruce [2025]
Dollar has the right last name because that midrange was MONEY almost every time I looked up and she was about to drop it. She plays within herself, always a good sign, and understands how to get hers “in the flow” yet she can also flip the switch and when she does, watch the ball flow through the nets
Sariah Fuentes-5’6 SG (Klein Cain HS) Houston Lady Nets 2024 [2025]
Fuentes would be in the running if I gave an Instant Offense Award because I don’t care what setting I catch her playing in, high school, club tournaments, or the PGH Circuit, her ability to drop it from, well anywhere definitely creates some problems. Her release is so quick, her range is so deep and she shoots the ball with so much confidence
Taniyah Davis-5’10 PF (Alief Taylor HS) Texas Cagers Select 2024 [2025]
Davis was a nightmare in the paint, her simple desire to go after everything had me going but she’s nowhere near the finished product, which is scary because she understands how to use her body, she’s strong and physical and doesn’t back down so her rebounding on both ends, yes she scores on putbacks has her upside very high
