Oklahoma Freshman Showcase: These 2030 Standouts | Part 2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Enjoyed getting the opportunity to cover the incoming freshman class that will finally get the opportunity to represent their high school this upcoming season. That excitement was on display Saturday as these young ladies and parent took a day out of heir holiday weekend to attend the showcase. Check out these 6 players who will be making a name for themselves at the high school level</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["1231580"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-6a9c7f04197e8"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">#703 Combo guard that stood out in 3/3 play that continued to 5/5 play as well.  Great movement off the ball on offense, cutting to the basket when the defender lost sight of her.  Good hands on the catch being able to create a scoring opportunity.  Good handles that could play the 2-3 guard and help at the 1 when needed.  Shot the ball well from the outside and well as the mid-range jumper.  Showed range at the 3 point area knocking down several 3's in the game I watched.  I had the opportunity to coach one game and be an easy player to talk to too.  I took that as a very coachable player.  Playing at Class A level this young lady will see varsity minutes as a freshman.  Player to keep an eye on this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["1234654"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-6a9c7f0419852"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">#673 Quick guard that got downhill off the wings getting paint touches which kept standing out to me.  Point guard that makes things happen with those touches.  Good decisions when getting to the paint making the correct reads.  Finish, pull up, or kick out to the wing for a shot.  Those instincts showed me that Ellie is coachable and understands the game. Nice form on the outside shot with good footwork resulting in made 3's.  Another thing that stood out in my notes is an All Out Hustler on the court.  2030 to watch as Blanchard has a very athletic comfortable with the ball in her nand and continuously handling the ball against the pressure.  Nice vision with eyes up the floor making several good passes to cutters for easy scoring opportunities.  Off the ball showed great movement relocating to the open spots for the knock down 3 pointer.  On defense like the talking on screens either switching or fighting over the ball screens.  The one thing that stood out in my notes is the jumper off the ball screen at the top of the key.  As that continues throughout her high school career that will make her a tough ball handler to defend as she does have the speed to turn the corner.  A player that could see time as a freshman not knowing the Madill varsity program but just going off what I saw.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> Aggressive play on both ends of the floor.  It seemed all day she was in the mix for a loose ball or rebound.  Great instincts of defense as she had many deflections throughout the day.  Solid on the ball defense keeping the defender in front.  Talked on defense and jumped to the ball on the passes.  On offense she fits the role of a solid combo guard.  Handled the ball with confidence when needed and shot the outside shot with nice form.  The aggressive play translated to offense and she got paint touches finishing at the rim or kickouts.  2030 to watch as she could find some court time this transition Saturday.  Honestly an unknown player that I have not seen before but when she blew by me with the ball it caught my attention.  A great change of speed in the half court game helped her get by her defender.  What stood out was on the drive she pulled up with the floater knowledgeable of defense waiting to block the shot.  Tough on the ball defender that stayed low in stance and good lateral movement.  Quick hands on defense as well getting a deflection or steal on weak crossovers.  An 2030 that I see could get minutes this year at Preston.  Not knowing their team she could be allow her to play the 2-3 spot and well defend the 4 spot if needed.   I put her in that 2-4 due to the notes I listed as a strong rebounder on both ends of the floor.  She stole a couple of possessions for her team with offensive rebounds.  I got to sit on the bench and listen to her talk to her team.  This young lady does have a nice basketball IQ. She was talking about cuts and movements on offense.  A guard that can handle the ball against full court pressure without turning it over.  Player to keep an eye on as her high school career continues.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
