<strong>GHSA State Playoffs: Top Forwards Pt. 2</strong>
I traveled long and far across the entire state of Georgia from the North to the South, East to West to see some of the most intriguing matchups throughout the state tournament. Now that I can finally catch my breath, here are some of the top performers I saw over the past month of the GHSA State Playoffs.
<strong>2023 5-11 F [player_tooltip player_id="186263" first="Kate" last="Jackson"] – Lumpkin County</strong>
Dominated the paint with 15 points and 13 rebounds in state championship. Inside-out post presence that can hit the open three and will knock down mid-range jumpers. Uses her size and strength on the low block, scoring on drop steps and soft hook shots.
<strong>2022 6-0 F [player_tooltip player_id="195601" first="Zaria" last="Hurston"] – Norcross</strong>
Class 7A Player of the Year averaged a double-double and posted 16 points and 15 rebounds in championship. Long arms and athletic. High motor. Can impact games in the press. Guards multiple positions. Thrives on the offensive glass. Has a nice jump shot with the ability to hit threes. DePaul-signee.
<strong>2022 6-1 PF [player_tooltip player_id="148871" first="Layla" last="Hood"] – Lovejoy</strong>
Quick leaper inside with a strong body. Lives on the glass. Put up 14 points and 16 rebounds in 6A championship. Mercer-signee.
<strong>2022 6-2 C [player_tooltip player_id="311536" first="Bryana" last="Hardy"] – Lovejoy</strong>
Long and athletic post presence that blocks shots, rebounds and scores around the rim. Knocks down the mid-range jumper. Can play in up-tempo systems.
<strong>2022 6-0 F Lexy Faklaris – Marist</strong>
Great free throw shooter helped Marist stun Luella. Compiled 19 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Strong frame with wide shoulders. Comfortable in the high post and has good hands when working her way onto the glass.
