This past weekend was the first “Live” weekend of the 2022 grassroots season in which Division-I schools are allowed to attend and evaluate, so travel teams and college coaches were out in full force across the country. I was able to catch some action at the Indy Clash in Indianapolis. Below is a look at five prospects who stood out to me with their play throughout the weekend.

– Jalyn is a strong forward who can be physical and play assertively around the paint. But she also has a nice jump-shot, range to the 3-point line, and she’s starting to look more aggressive off the dribble, often ending in athletic pull-ups or finishes at the basket. She has a nose for the ball and will rebound outside of her area. I think the next step for her is to prove she can defend wings around the perimeter.

, 2024, 6-0 C, Kokomo H.S.
– Aijia is a strong and powerful post. She loves to play with contact in the paint, and she will often just move people out of her way to finish at the basket. This Spring she has begun showing more touch in the mid-post, and she even knocked down a 3-pointer in the game I saw. If she can add that element to her offensive skillset, and if she can defend better around the perimeter, she’ll be a nice next-level prospect.
Ellie Falkenstein

Silver Creek | 2024

, 2024, 5-8 SG/SF, Jeffersonville H.S.
– Ellie is a very intriguing wing who I think can develop into a nice college prospect with a little more work. She has great length, wiry strength, and she’s fairly fluid in most directions. I feel like she’s sort of stuck between positions, trying to figure out if she should be a wing shooter or a creative scorer, but I think she has enough skill and ability to be both. I’ll be curious to see what another year does for her development.
Kiera Grant, 2024, 5-1 PG, Silver Creek H.S.
– This was my first time hearing about and seeing Kiera, and she definitely has something to her. She is strong for her size, quick/fast, and very active and feisty. She is a playmaker at both ends of the floor, whether it’s picking up the ball for 84-feet, or creating open shots for teammates. Her motor was outstanding, and without her, I’m not sure they’re anywhere near as competitive. She made a nice first impression.
Katherine Reed, 2026, 6-0 PF/C, Washington H.S.
– Katherine is another player I caught for the first time, and she too was very solid. She has a strong frame for her age that could become a bit of a problem for opponents down the road. She showed nice hands and the ability to finish around the basket in multiple ways, plus she knocked down a couple of mid-post jumpers. Washington has had it’s run of taller players, and Katherine will continue that recent trend.
